I took his intro to nutrition class because I had to, and ended up being fascinated. I would blame Dr. Carew for most of that. He's fun, entertaining, and truly knowledgeable about his subject. He's willing to go the extra mile to help his students, and while he expects you to work hard, he is willing to put in just as much effort to help you out.

At first I thought the lecture section of the class was going to be boring because it's literally exactly what the reading the night before was (since he wrote the book). However, the lectures are the best part of the class. Carew is just the right mix of Einstein, encyclopedia, cute little old man, and insane. I wish I was going to have him more.

Dr. Carew is awesome. He's been teaching at UVM for 40 years; I don't know if there's any professor that has been here longer than here. He knows the material like the back of his hand, he's HILARIOUS, the online textbook is very helpful and he's a friendly guy. The class is not bad at all; the online textbook has tons of practice questions.

Dr. Carew is fantastic!! Honestly, it is easy to sit through his 80 minute lectures because he tells these funny stories and is just such a great professor. Very enthusiastic and makes class interesting. You'll learn a lot. Just make sure you actually go to class and keep up with the readings; it's wayyy too easy to get behind.

Carew is one crazy old man but he's awesome! His lectures mimic what is in the online text. If you go to class it isn't that necessary to read. Pretty easy class overall. Review sessions help a lot!

VERY funny. Makes food nutrition exciting, and entertaining while still getting the point across. Is always willing to help. But you have to read the text online or you'll fall behind. It's better to do it early and look good.

Dr. Carew is an enjoyable professor and a great resource. Unfortunately, the class is huge-- but he keeps it interesting. Tests are harder and mostly multiple choice but not too bad if you do the reading. I met with him and he was extremely helpful and really tried to get to know me.

Dr. Carew is a good professor. He knows his facts and is a really nice guy. The class was kind of boring and it went by really slowly, but it was interesting. His notes are kind of scattered on the board so you have to pay attention to what he is saying. The book is online so attendance is not mandatory. Big class, tests are ok.
