Comment:

You definitely have to work for your grade in this class, but Fier is an amazing professor. There is guaranteed homework every single night, and he actually grades your lab reports. The tests are weighted super heavily, especially the final, so study hard for those. Chemistry is a hard subject but with Fier is your corner it isn't that bad.

This man is the best at Saddleback for a reason. Everyone respects him. He is the best at explaining and is very personable. I've never seen a question asked that he cannot answer. Study guides before every exam do awesome job at preparing you. Helps you whenever he can. He's the best teacher I've ever had. Love the guy!

Such a quality guy and amazing at teaching. Only issue for me was how hard the exams were. I was always able to complete the reviews with a good understanding but then I would get the exams and really struggle. The exams are much harder than the reviews and he will challenge you on them. Worked super hard but couldn't get an A. Awesome class though

HE IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE. His lectures are clear. He is willing to help you anytime with anything. He prepares you so well for each exam and even the finals. Fier is absolutely amazing. The class is crystal clear in every aspect; just pay attention and go to class and you won't have trouble getting an A. He goes out of his way to clarify any concepts you don't understand. Tests are pretty easy and almost exactly like homework questions. If he taught ochem I would register in a heartbeat.

He is the best chemistry teacher so far. I took Donavan for the first semester, he was awesome. Then Fier for the second semester of chemistry. He is a nice teacher who would replied to your emails real quick about any question you want to ask. His tests are easy if you do the homework and review them.

Dr. Fier is an AMAZING professor! His lectures make chemistry extremely interesting and intuitive. He is very organized, clear, and fantastic at clarifying points or answering questions until you understand the concept. Yes, his classes are difficult but earning a good grade is very rewarding. The greatest teacher ever! The funniest guy who is super smart and awesome in every way. Truly wish he was teaching Organic Chemistry as he always makes the rough school adventure that much funner. Best Chem professor at Saddleback by far! if you can get him, by all means take all chem with him. He is so thorough! he really is a nice guy as well. If you go through something personal he'll be there for you and will rearrange things for you like an exam date.

One of the best decisions I've made in college was to take Dr. Fier's class. Fier is simply the best. His lectures are amazing, labs are fun, & he respects each student equally. Dr. Fier has become my all time favorite teacher after having him for Chem 1A & 1B. Not only is he so knowledgeable, but he knows how to present the information so that it is understandable. His class is organized, he is clear about what you need to know, and he doesn't try to trick you on tests. Take his class, people. And respect the chemistry.

Extremely helpful. Gives small homework assignments every day and works them out during class. Cares about his students. Difficult material but he made it understandable. Homework questions were very similar to test questions. Always willing to answer any questions and has a lot of office hours. Labs went well with lectures and related to homework.

I just graduated from UC San Diego as a Chemical Engineer and Chemistry double major. I took Fier many years ago and I completely owe it to him for my current love and passion for chemistry today. I still tell everyone I know that the best teacher I ever took was professor Fier. If you're reading this, please know it was you that inspired me!
