DeVore does not offer much instruction for how to write fiction, but that's because he knows a lot of writing is about actually just doing it, so he offers all the time needed for students to write. He's probably the easiest professor I've had, as he realizes those who want to write will write.

I had him for Intro to Creative Writing and he is super laid back and funny. He is all about appreciating students' effort to try creative writing; he will not give you less than an A if you submit everything and show effort to write. It was a slow class at times, but I still enjoyed it.

I had DeVore for his Fiction Creative Writing Seminar, and he was very helpful in trying to get me to write what I really wanted to say. Though his advice was semi-cryptic and a bit confusing, I ended up writing a story that he was excited about, and I was proud to show off. EXTREMELY laid back!

I LOVE THIS MAN! He is absolutely amazing. He's funny and will keep you amused all semester. I am not usually a fan of English, but he made the subject interesting and was very helpful when I asked questions. I would highly recommend him! I had him a long time ago, but he still says hi and will stop to talk to me. He's amazing. Enough said.
