Comment:

Had a blast in the class, especially since I already had friends in it. There is required reading every week, but you can fake the readings pretty easily for each assignment. A ton of discussion for the class. If you don't participate, don't expect her to like you or be lenient with you. Get involved, and she'll like your work.

Pretty fun class. She definitely teaches you more about gov't/politics in an intro class than you'd expect, which is great if you're interested in the topic. She really wants you to learn about how things work, and she grades things pretty easily in my experience. Great Poli Sci prof.

This class was really cool. The readings are interesting then she pulls what it all means together in the lecture. Half the class is watching a video series on all the past presidents and it's really interesting. Participation really does matter. A midterm exam and a final exam. Journaling due every week where you state the thesis of each reading.

Attendance is mandatory. Tests are a killer. Notes seem to be useless, so study from the textbook. The number of exams through out the semester is ridiculous! If you don't do well on the exams, at least do well on the homework's and the term paper. Participate!!

Dr. Kirby's class is very uneasy. She is a very nice woman but very unorganized. You take a lot of notes in class, but hardly any of the notes are on the tests. The tests are extremely hard, and when you ask for help, Kirby doesn't seem to care. I was very interested in this subject before the class, but I would NOT recommend her for this class!!

Dr. Kirby's presidency class is pretty standard in that you do a lot of reading and spend most of class discussing the reading and the rest of the class watching a movie. The movie's pretty interesting, and the class is good if you're really legitimately interested in the subject matter at hand.

I had Professor Kirby for POSC 103,381, and 417. She is an awesome teacher. Yes you do have to do a decent amount of work in all three courses. However, I wouldn't classify any of the three as "hard". I enjoyed her as a professor and learned a lot in each class!

Do not take her class. Tests have nothing to do with what you learned in class. Homework has to be typed. She gives little to no help to students who clearly are having trouble. Strongly Advice you stay away from this class... waste of time..

Her tests are very hard and the things she lectures about are rarely tested on. When I went to her for help she was not willing to help me do better and suggested asking other people in the class how to do better. Only take this class if you know a lot of details about government and if you like reading the whole chapter in the textbook....

lectures completely irrelevant to tests. you will def read the entire textbook. shows very little patience for people who dont understand, me in particular who cared nothing about the subject but still tried. follows syllabi exactly. along with attendance, participation is MANDATORY it will make all the difference in your grade

Defiantly not my favorite professor. She is tough and not very welcoming when it comes to meeting with her and needing some extra help. Pay attention in class and READ THE TEXTBOOK. Majority of the tests come from the readings. Put a lot of effort into the homework and type it!!!

She's a great professor. A little scattered at times, but we generally talked about the readings. Read everything (not every word) but get the general idea and you'll be fine. One big paper, journal for every class, and two exams. Pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Trust me. I recommend this class!

Her lectures are interesting but irrelevant to your grade. I dont even take notes, and i do just fine. You will need to read the book, as her tests heavily rely on them and are very tricky. She has good intentions, but she expects a bit too much from her students at times. Hard, but good. If youre willing to read, you'll do fine. I recommend

We watch useless videos that have nothing to do with what is going on in the reading material. nice lady, but expects alot. very hard to do well on tests. tests are on atleast 3 chapters, if not more. quizes each week (10 questions) final ='s death. 8 essays you need to memorize. attendance is required. VERY opinionated. if you really have no background in politics avoid this class at all cost!

She really wants you to do well! Discussion questions needed for 75% of the classes. One informal debate and a 5-8 pg paper based off of that. Class is minimal note taking and usually just small group discussions. Would definitely take this class again!
