If you have never liked math and always found it to be difficult, this is the teacher to take. He will assign homework almost every night and go over problems the next day. Tests are straight forward and easy. Easily the best math teacher i have ever taken. Took him for both Math 120 and 147.

Burke is a very bright man who is excellent at explaining things. If every teacher was like him we would all be better off as students. He doesn't take BS from slackers and rewards those who do the HW. He is one of those teachers who does more work than his students. Lesson plans are well developed and he puts major thought into his teaching. A++++

lots of online homework. mymathlab is the online program which you have to pay for. come with a new book or you could buy a used book and a code online. lots of quizzes/super quizzes. explained and taught pretty well though.

I really learned to love this man. At first he seemed like a very boring teacher, but if you give him a chance and pay attention, you will realize that he truly loves his job, and is not there to waste your time. He is always very concerned with grades, and will motivate you to work harder. great class, great man, great teacher!

Fantastic teacher! He clarifies ANYTHING you may have a question on and will explain all mathematical concepts in a clear, easy-to-understand manner, which is very important for a math class. He definitely made Math 120 pretty painless for me. Although he does not grade on attendance, you really need to go every day to learn the material

One of the best. Period. The bad reviews are from people who are lazy or careless. He can seem rough, almost like a drill sergeant in the military. He runs a tight class and it benefits the students who want to learn. Highly recommended.

I have some serious doubt about the method he uses to teach math. Usually worked through 3 or 4 problems in an hour and when the test came expected us to finish 20 problems in an hour. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you actually want to learn something. I aced math 133 over the summer with Feinman, and in comparison this man is a joke of a teacher. Incredibly strict with tests and painfully slow at lecturing, this guy covers in a week what Feinman can cover in a day. The only reason why I'm still in the class is because I need it to move on.

Mr Burke keeps his students attentive and engaged. Instead of blandly lecturing to us, he tries to involve us in the lecture. He'll pose a problem, and then poke and prod at the class until they figure it out on their own. This deeply cements mathematical skill into the student.

Mr. Burke is an okay teacher for some people, he isn't the best teacher his teaching style isn't for me, he is very picky and is a perfectionist, and marks you down for something he thinks is wrong even though it could be acceptable. Mr Burke overall is a very good teacher, everything is explained clearly as long as u do the hw u will be fine and understand everything cuz he is very precise when he teaches. Although u will have to do an essay but that isnt hard cuz he basically tells u exactly what to do n write. His humor is kinda weird but overall very good teacher

Professor Burke is a strict grader (math is all about perfection), but is extremely logical, thorough, and attentive to the needs of students. His lectures are crystal clear, explanatory, and thorough. Tests consist of what was discussed in class/quizzes. I learned more in his Precalc and Calc I classes than I've learned in the past few years.
