Do not buy the books. I never even opened mine. Her tests are completely made up of her lectures and you can find the maps online. As long as you pay attention and take good notes you'll pass. It is definitely not an easy A though. She really knows what she is talking about though, and it is an interesting class.

She is so sweet. The content of this class is very dry, to me, but she's great. If you come to class everyday, participate, and pay attention, the tests are a breeze. Plus she gives you extra credit options that total 20 pts! It doesn't get better than that. Do the extra credit and pay attention and you're guaranteed an easy 4.0.

Professor Karasch is great! She has a lot of knowledge about Latin America. Her interest in the subject keeps you interested! Tests are fair. Professor Karasch was GREAT! I didn't know what to expect at first, but once the class gets going it's a lot of fun! She's very clear and it's obvious she has a lot of knowledge of Latin America. Her interest in the subject makes you interested! Exams were fair. Just go to class and take a lot of notes and you will do fine! I highly recommend her!

Bad at giving notes, does not textbook a whole lot, thankfully there are study with tons of material to help you. She does help when you ask questions, extra credit and attendance are key. Just read ahead and participate, study, attendance, and reading should guarantee a 3.0 or better, a 4.0 is only near impossible, still would not recommend.

I LOVE MARY! She's such a sweet lady and her class is fairly easy. The only thing that's a bummer is class participation. If you've gone to every class and took notes every day but haven't spoke out in class, you're participation grade will not be higher than a 3.0. Tests are fair and come straight from the study guides she gives you. TAKE MARYYY!!

Mary Karasch is a very knowledgeable teacher and very easy to understand and meet her expectations. I got above a 4.0. Class is out of 200 points and we got 25 possible extra-credit points. Speak up early in class, so you can relax for the rest of the time. Highly recommend this class.

Very easy class. She knows the material well, and is a nice person overall. I passed this class with flying colors, saying 4 answers the entire semester. 3 Tests (including final) and 2 participation grades (attendance, note taking, speaking) make up the overall class grade. Mary Karasch is a great teacher and it is fairly easy to get an A. Test come right from the study guides she hands out before every test. The class is out of roughly 200 points and she gives 20 points for extra credit work. If you need a class for a good grade and also want to learn something, this is for you.

I was skeptical about Dr.Karasch at first but after the first couple weeks, I began to learn so much. She is extremely clear in what she expects and is a very fair (sort of easy) grader. Lots of chances for extra credit. I DEFINITELY recommend her. She knows what she is talking about!!

First rate professor. She is very passionate about Latin America, which makes her lectures very interesting. You have got to keep up with current events, because that plays a major role during her lectures and her way of teaching key concepts. Plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit.
