I think Odell deserves a higher rating, sure she wasn't the most organized but she knew that and was flexible and very much Wanted our input for the schedule. She cares about her students and is interested in what we think. She expects that you've done the readings, especially secondary! A little tougher grader on the tests than I expected but fair

Comment:
Despite her good intentions, Maggie Odell is unorganized and rarely has clear objectives. Most of the time she begins class by taking 20 minutes of the 55 minute class stating what is going to take place in the class period. For group presentations, tests, and other assignments, she is unclear in what she wants. Typically very scatter brained

Maggie must have really changed how she teaches from previous years; I absolutely loved having her as a prof! She is extremely caring and quite liberal. She had moments where she was just really funny (usually without meaning to be). Lectures could be dry, but the content was engaging, and she's very interested in hearing what you have to say.

She's great; crazy smart, listens well - very soft spoken though, so pay attention. She wants you to do well, and she wants to know you're doing well, so speak up in class if you're gonna get those participation points. A little ramble-y, spends a lot of time talking about what she's gonna do instead of like... doing it. I liked her a lot tho.

While, she may not be the most helpful and clear at times, everything but the tests are a cake walks so long as you are willing to put in the time. She loves students who are willing to participate even if you have a dissenting opinion. I learned so much from this class, so I say it was definitely worth taking.

Doesn't teach that much material in class. The most learning you will do is when doing the assigned readings.

If you are a strong Christian, rooted in your beliefs and faith, I suggest not taking this professor. She does not like those who already come in with a strong faith and chooses her favorites in the class within two weeks. She only rewards those who agree with her or think outside of the box liberally. Can be a bit crazy at times: has a puppet.

sexy hottie that doesn't know how to teach. she knows her stuff but when dealing with discussion doesn't know how to conduct them at all. Tests... are a complete joke... even with experience in other theology classes its hard to get a grasp on any topics or concepts she is trying to, literally, throw at you. BEWARE OF THE PUPPET!

Worst professor of my life! I never understood what she wanted in discussion or papers. Going into her office hours did help a tiny bit but don't count on understanding what is happening in class. She is Scatterbrained and inconsistent. She also plays favorites.

Odell is a very nice person, but completely scatterbrained (some would say crazy) and really doesn't teach you much. If you read and are a decent writer you should do fine, just don't expect to finish the class with any deep understanding of the bible.

I agree, she is very nice. However, she is very unclear with assignments, lectures, ideas/concepts....everything. I basically just floated through the class...I never knew what was going on even if I did every reading that was assigned. If you're a theology major or interested in seminary, this is the class for you...otherwise STAY OUT

She's a really cool professor. She seems to be open to everyone's opinon. I would recommend her for ANY class you take at stolaf. She makes learning fun, at the same time she expects you to show it. Would recommend her on any given day. The folks that say she's crazy are full of****.

She's really not that bad. You just have to do the readings and listen to her in class. She's actually a very funny person and welcomes students' comments. Be sure to support the statements you make in your papers with a published source and you'll be fine.

I took this class last year, and I have to say Dr. Odell is not as bad as everyone thinks. Though she sometimes gets a little off the topic and has trouble relating to her students, she is very smart and is always more than welcome to talk about papers and questions you might have.
