Comment:

One of the worst instructors I have ever taken. Could not run and online class to save his life. Due dates were all messed up, things took forever to be graded, and final grades were submitted late. You're better off taking another teacher. Grading is iffy, if you cater to what he wants then you're good to go. Pretty easy class overall though.

The work is easy, his grading is not harsh in any way. But he is so poorly equipped to teach an online class it is pathetic. Late posting of assignment instructions, mis-matched due dates, and an annoying amount of busy work. It makes this class hellish, and almost impossible to keep up with. I do not recommend taking it with him.

He's really into engaging students in discussion and getting them to think about literature in depth. The work isn't hard unless you don't put forth the effort. He wants his students to succeed, but to make most of his class you should attend office hours! If you don't like learning or actually working for a grade, don't take the class. Simple!

This guy makes 0 since. He gives out 3 essays a class, and each one of them is easy but he nitpicks and expects them to be masterpieces. Expect to get low grades on every essay because their is no pleasing this man - WAY too picky. Also - homework, EVERY NIGHT. Yeah, enjoy that. ALSO : you can't understand his writing! AT ALL!

This teacher is hard for this specific class. His major is film. He is very unclear with what he wants you to do. His grading is very confusing and doesn't really show where it comes from. The examples he gives from the book are completely different topics than the project. He rambles for over half of the class about what the reading was about.

Mr. Martinez was a great teacher. Grades essays fairly but not necessarily "easily" but as long as you put effort and progress you'll do well :) He makes things very clear and I loved his creative perspective. Wish I had taken it for a full semester rather than a Summer A course. I enjoyed the reading.

I'm amazed that Prof. Martinez's rating is so low! He was GREAT! Incredibly intelligent & an awesome teacher! This was a very intellectually stimulating & relevant class. The previous post are correct he is not an easy teacher grader but you will have fun & become a better writer. . I cant wait to take him for 1102!!!

got to be honest, manny is not an easy grader. i ended up working through 3 or 4 drafts of each paper in order to get A's on my work. but since he made me do the work till i got it right, i got a lot more out of this class than any other. if you want to become a better writer this is the class for you, if you want to slack this is not the class.

He was a hard teacher in 1101 but got easier in 1102. Loved the discussions he is a very smart man with interesting points ov view. He was the perfect english teacher for me because I love to lose myself in great literature. He loves teaching and gives you several chances to turn in perfection. I was extreamly sad when class ended.

This class is a rather simple and straightforward class. However, the workload is a bit excessive. There was at minimum 10 pages reading and 1 page of writing to do per night if you wanted to score good points. He was very helpful with Essays if you went and saw him during office hours though. Class discussion was the same as previous night's HW.

Martinez is an interesting guy and his class was easy. Yes, there is a lot of writing but it's English, so what do you expect? He's very helpful with the essays if you go and ask him for it. Although he assigns a lot of homework, ALL of it is relevant to what you need to know about writing essays, and it helps. I would definitely recommend him.

Martinez is a brilliant man who never strays off topic. If you do actually listen to him, he makes lots of sense. However, he expects you to go in there as an expert, and does not actually TEACH. He is anti-social and doesn't connect to or help students at all. It's possible to squeeze an A out of him, but it's not easy.

This guy was not that great. He gave homework EVERY night. I was in the emergency room one of the days of class so I couldn't turn it in on time. He wouldn't accept it. That was ridiculous. He doesn't help you on your essays. Everything that you think is right isn't. He doesn't teach at all either. I wish I hadn't taken that class.

this teacher doesn't teach anything. you will write TONS of papers and he will not help you make corrections. he is the least helpful teacher i've had at santa fe. he's already very weird and has anxiety problems. doesn't know how to communicate with students in or out of class. gets really nervous and sweats a lot! comes to school really sweaty!ew
