Comment:

As stated by others, the accent is a problem. Especially when you're learning new terms and their definitions. Also it would have been great if he gave written guidelines for the required papers. It seemed like one day we were given certain directions for our paper, and the next they were totally different. He'd just say whatever came to mind.

Eh. Nice guy, really goofy and tries to keep the class in a good mood, but he's really boring and he never makes any sense. Also, he is a hard grader and he never really gives a reason for it. Very stubborn when it comes to grades.

He's nice and funny, but not helpful.You can't ever understand him, or read what he writes.He gave the instructions for the final project they weren't clear at all, and then after we had written 12 pages and went to show him our progress, he put down our whole paper and made us pick a new topic.Could have been prevented if his guidelines were typed

He's a happy little man, but I think it comes from the immense amount he smokes before class. I couldn't understand him most of the time because of his accent, and when I did it really wasn't worth it. Boring material, but he tries to be funny with slapstick comedy style. Like a teen stoner movie.

Very nice & kind somewhat helpful but has a hard time understanding simple questions loves feedback but dosen't make any changes hard grader but you can do well if you just study the review sheet all finals and mid terms are from review sheets. term paper was graded very bad takes off for abbrev.

Very engaging; his accent can make it hard to understand something he says on occassion, but he takes it in stride with humor and writes on the board; he knows his stuff and likes to teach; he does love to mention his home country of the Ivory Coast, but I found his boasting to be playful and funny

Professor Pape was a wonderful instructor! He almost convinced me to major in french even though I already had two majors. Even though I had him as a freshman, he remembered my name and checked to see how I was doing if he ran into me on campus.

the course comes with alot of reading, but pape (pah-pay) is a really nice guy. he is friendly, has a good sense of humor, and his multiple choice tests/quizzes come straight from the review quizzes he goes over in class.
