Marc was a really great prof. His tests are hard, but if you put in the work it's easy to get at least a B or above on them (USE QUIZLET). I didn't open my book the entire semester. Cares about how you're doing in his class, and is more than happy to answer questions or repeat what he said in lecture in a different way to help you understand better

There is no doubt that Marc is one of the most passionate professor I've taken, however, his tests are hard and although he says he's approachable and is here to help us learn, if you ask a stupid question he's the kind of guy that will tell you - and the whole class who's listening. You definitely need to pay attention in lecture.

Marc is a great guy. The class is difficult, but an A is totally possible if you put in the work. You have to go over the material every few days because everything is fair game on the exams. Marc's lectures are fascinating, and I genuinely enjoy going to lecture. Highly recommend if you're willing to put in a little work!

By far my favorite Professor at UWL. Although I have a passion for microbiology, I think Marc's lectures would be interesting to anyone. To get an A in this class you must review material almost every night. His tests are short answer, fill-in-the-blank, matching, and multiple choice so the variety is nice. I learned so much in this class!

Marc is genuinely a great guy. Sadly, his tests are awful. There were many times he would say that we wouldn't need to know something and then it would be on the test. Unless you have an actual question to ask don't bother going to the review session because he just answers questions and doesn't go over test material. DO NOT SKIP CLASS.

This class is co-taught by 3 professors. Tests are very hard (averages were never above a C). Participation is a large part of the grade. Encourages thinking in a way many classes don't. Great professor. Approachable.

Comment:
His tests were very hard and confusing, and I put so much time into studying. I knew every bit of information he taught going into the tests, yet I never got above a C. He doesn't want students to do well and his tests do not represent the amount of information you learned. Also, he grades very unfairly so don't count on partial credit, ever.

Comment:
Marc is possibly the worst professor at this University. He by no means wants his students to do well because he considers a C a good grade. He grades unbelievably hard. I put more work into this class than all of my classes combined and still received a C even thought I know the material very well. Tests on way more detail than what he teaches.

Ugh. After the first few weeks of class, I thought it was awesome and that I was going to get an A..until the first test. Tests are SO HARD. He doesn't use the book and tests are off of lecture, but if you miss one little thing he says, there's 5 pts off the test. I'm not a big micro fan anyway, but Rott doesn't make it easy. Nice guy though.

I like Rott as a person- he was interested in getting to know his students and liked to joke with the class. But Rott teaches a hard Mic class. He uses powerpoints that are unstructured and just rambles about topics. He also uses can exams with a few trick questions to get his curve. Cool guy, but too much work for a B in the class..(90%AB & 94%A)

Somewhat of a condescending prof but still a good guy. Very nice beard. His tests are difficult but fair I would say, I've had worse. You will have to study and know concepts well, but he's clear on what he wants people to know for tests. Holds reviews before all tests and quizzes for questions about material. Overall, good professor.

Easily one of the most intense classes i have ever taken and hes definitely a tough grader but you will learn SO much in this class and from Marc. Always tries to keep the material applicable and "real world" and is always there to help outside of class time if you go see him. Definitely reccomend him.

Rott is an overall good lecturer. His tests are the most picky in the world. Doesn't believe in multiple choice, and you will need to do so much studying. Overall the class itself was a lot of fun and I did work my butt off to get the grade I got. If you have to take Mic 230. Maybe try someone else. Rott is difficult.

This class was easy, but I'm almost done w/ my bio major. If this was my first sci class, it would be really hard....very picky tests. Rott's a jerk...he talks to you like the class is a bunch of 6 yr olds and repeats himself constantly. Says he likes questions and seems all nice, but usu. answers them in a really demeaning manner. Very two-faced.
