He is terrible, his political beliefs are all he will ever talk about and if you disagree you are wrong. He even has you write papers that should be opinions but will dock you points if your opinion differs from his. We went the whole semester speaking about police violence and the last 2 weeks watched silent films for group projects.

Took this course as winter session.. I dont recommend him at all. He doesnt respond to emails! Lack of grading criteria information. No power points, or any other material to help you follow his analysis/criteria so you better have a crystal ball ready, since he wont communicate with you.. However, hell penalize you for the smallest item.

Honestly he is very moody and he gets annoyed easily if you ask questions even though he "SAYS" you can, you really cant ask without getting a snotty comment, but the subject was alright, I just think he needs to adjust his attitude and maybe re-look at his assignments and point system because its very disorganized.

AWESOME instructor. Took for Span201 Winter session. Made it so easy and even teaches you "street lingo" for practical use. Also very funny.

Every time I left this class I was angry and frustrated. I am an A student and I came out with a B+. He made us do a lot of group presentations, quizzes, and a couple short papers. He did not have a clear grading system, and he was not tech savvy so things got lost in translation. I am so bummed about this class. You have to read the Jim Crow book.

His online class was a little challenging because he wasn't clear as to how he was grading or what his expectations were. The reading material and exercises were really interesting though. It gave me a different perspective on things. Besides his confusing grading, the class was interesting but hard. Don't know if I would take his class again.

Does a terrible job of motivating students and making standards clear. He is really phoning it in. Has very unprofessional demeanor. If he weren't so smart, I would question his sobriety because of his unprofessionalism.

Did not follow the syllabus, not helpful with questions students ask, never took attendance. There were hardly any points given in the course witch made the final paper weigh heavily on the overall grade. He is a very rude professor who seems to not really care for his students. I would never take another course with this professor!'

I was looking forward to this class since it was a power & pop culture class and it sounded interesting. Boy, was I wrong! The class lectures by Martinez turned into rants about his perspectives that he pushes on you. Nothing is clear& it's hard to decipher, even if you ask questions. Don't take this class, save your time for something important.

I freaking love Marcos. He's hilarious, fun, and he makes you want to keep going. I recommend him as a teacher to anyone and that people should take Suzuki at least once in their life. I've had him as a teacher a couple times now, and a few more times coming up. By far, the best!

Made me feel like I should read more, do more, and actively pursue my dreams. He gives a lot of meaning to things in life, and it inspires you to do your best. He speaks on your level. Not condescending at all, very human, very accessible. Won't hand you anything - as in life, you have to take it. He'll do everything he can to help once asked.

What I've found is, students who have problems in his classes (& I've taken them all) are complete ignorant ****s.
