Good taste in books. Prepare to jump through mind-numbing hoops for a grade. Class and lectures are disorganized at best. Her PhD is in English but she tries to teach science, so she frequently has no clue what she's talking about. Assignments are often given hazy, inscrutable descriptions and then graded based on invisible criteria.

Dr. O'Shaughnessey was such a sweet lady. She is incredibly passionate about the material and tried to inspire us to appreciate English and Nature as well. Definitely take this class (I did for the EE credit). It's pretty easy and a lot of fun!

Dr. O'Shaugnessey was great! I ended up enrolling in her class by mistake but I made a great choice by staying. ENGL129 has been the easiest class I've taken at UNC. There is a lot of reading and quizzes but they're easy and she's a very lenient grader. I would definitely take another class with her.

She is a decent professor, but the class was very boring. You can miss a few classes, but sometimes there are assignments you are graded on in class. Otherwise, you don't do much in class (she just goes over the assignment that you could read on your own). Repetitive assignments toward the end and lots of writing, but an easy A.

Prof O'Shaughnessey is a great ENGL105i teacher, especially if you have her for the Natural Sciences section. She is very clear with her paper rubrics and criticisms. If you put the effort into improving your papers, you will ace the class with flying colors.

Great professor. There are 3 main units with a paper at the end of each. Each paper is 13% of your grade, however I wrote each of these the night before and only followed the rubric and got high As. She assigns 500 word discussion posts once every other week (take about 45 minutes, completion grade) and works with you. Not a super easy A but easy

She is an incredible professor. She is a tough but fair grader. Her class requires A LOT of work (essays every other class etc). The class is Do-able but not an easy A: You have to work for an A. The topics you write about are highly interesting. I highly recommend her class

She is agreat professor for the Natural Sciences Engl105 and really guides students through writing a paper by allowing in-class time for discussion and peer revisions. This class was completely manageable for me, especially because topics for projects can be chosen by the student so it makes it more interesting. Science writing is important!

The class is fairly straightforward and is definitely manageable but be prepared for a good amount of work. While the work is not difficult it can be a bit time consuming. As long as you do all of your assignments you should be fine. That being said, a lot of the time rubrics are non-existent or vague, if you have any questions on it ASK THE PROF.

Lots and lots of assignments, and three main papers that make up 40% of your grade. She's really nice though and gives good feedback. Revise your essays and follow the rubrics and you should do fine. An A is definitely manageable but you have to work for it.

If you ask for help, she'll give it to you. However, three main papers make up 40% of your grade, so don't mess them up.

I had Professor O'Shaughnessy for 105i Natural Science and she is really nice. She did a good job of covering a lot of important categories of scientific writing (lab report, literature review, poster presentation, policy report, etc) and gave us a rubric for all the papers. Be prepared to do a lot of writing and make sure to revise papers

She's very nice. Took her for ENGL 105i for the Natural Sciences. Weekly reflections and responses to other students reflections that were two pages long. Keep up with assignments and you'll do fine. It is not an easy A, but it's not a difficult class. In class we didn't really learn anything. You learned more from sakai resources she posted.

Grading is pretty fair as long as time management is exercised. Be sure to revise papers (if you make the correct revisions, you'll do well on the major papers). Not a super easy A, but definitely doable.

She doesn't really teach you anything in class, you just kind of go to class to ask any questions about your assignments and she'll just post resources on Sakai. Grading is pretty clear. If you put in a good amount of effort you should be fine. Assignments were interesting since we got to choose our topics. Wasn't a super tough class.

Pretty good teacher. Makes it clear what she expects of you, although the inclass assignments can be a bit ambiguous. Just keep on top of your science writings and not wait until last minute to do your assignments and you'll do well.

The class was easy, but with the seven textbooks as well as online readings and weekly response writings, it keeps you busy. She is kind but at times I felt like I was back in high school. Boring class. Also your grade largely depends on luck of the draw - your final presentation is with a group, and if one person does badly, everyone does.

This class is so easy if you just go to class and do the readings. She treats you as if your a high school student by retelling you what happened in the reading, so if you didn't do the reading, go to class. You can BS your ways through her essay and if you show her that your trying by asking questions, she'll give you an A. Do well on your papers!
