Young was one of the most influential professors I've ever had!! A lot of comments on here say she's outdated which confuses me bc she's taught me all I know about Adobe photoshop and indesign. If she didn't know anything, she called in someone that did. Personal consultations with her were the best- she's always there to help you! p.s. PRINT EARLY

If you don't have prior design experience, good luck. She favors the people who are good at inDesign and basically talks down to everyone else. If you're among the 2 or 3 people she favors, you'll be fine. If you aren't, you better ask for help because she won't go out of her way to help. Very confusing with instructions and due dates.

Very very outdated. Always confusing and unclear on assignments. I've taken two courses with her and I finished both without learning anything. She's easy but don't expect to learn anythingget anything out of it.

This class was a 2.5 hour class but she does a pretty good job of talking about interesting stuff, you just have to make an effort to get into it. There is a lot of assignments but she grades really easy. She is EXTREMELY behind on the times but she's very nice.

You use AdAge, so get it! She's not super clear on her directions for projects, so you are pretty much free to do whatever. Not a hard class. I would invest in Photoshop and InDesign.

Projects can actually be fun. SAVE EVERYTHING. ON MULTIPLE flashdrives. She doesn't know much about the design software... so watch tutorials. Not that great of a teacher, but willing to give good grades if you try.

Wonderful teacher. You do a series of projects using Indesign and Photoshop to create a portfolio that you can use when looking for career. She gives lots of insight, be there for critiques and hand in times and have assignment printed in advance. I learned alot and im happy I took this class. show up.

Dr. Young is an amazing teacher, she is interested in the subject and knows tons about layout and design. If you come to class and ask when you need help, I guarantee you will get so much out of it. Plus she like one of the few people in the PR/AD concentration with any real world experience. She's so much fun too!

In a few short words, I would describe Dr. Young as outdated, but means well. Her presentations are disorganized and seem more like a hodgepodge of anecdotes. The grading is arbitrary. THe assignments, will seemingly helpful, dont dive deep into the subject as much as you would expect from a 300 level class. This class felt like 200 level class.

Dr. Young is an awesome professor! She is super helpful and I now have a rocking portfolio. She also helped me realize what type of career I would eventually like to have. You have to spend like 31 bucks for a program online but there is no text book so it's basically a swap out. She is awesome.

Best Prof. I have had in the Com dept. She is wonderful! People say she gives pointless assignments but they really do help you learn from real-world experience. Study for the tests, they can be difficult. Textbook is horrible but you need it for exams, only. She's sweet, caring and she makes the class fun! Be nice, and she will be nice right back.

Wow! I was in this same class and I found Dr. Young so helpful and nice. I learned so much and Ad Age was great. Her assignments made me read the magazine and it made me so much more aware of the field i want to go into. Her dates were more flexible and she tried to make it work for everyone. I thought she was awesome

Relies heavily on students to catch her numerous mistakes. One student even had to tell her when the final was because she could not "understand" the final exam chart. Maintains an arbitrary grading system- she makes up the points as she goes along. While the content is good/important, the her presentation of it is very poor.

Interesting class, but tough to figure out what is due when since the calender is impossible to read. Make sure you ask every class what is due next class or you will forget assignments. Also get ready to fork out $31 for a subscription to advertising age. You cant get out of it you have to buy it.

Awesome teacher, very friendly and provides great insight, real world experience, and examples. If you try and show effort you will get a good grade. One of the nicest people you will ever meet, lots of projects and hands on stuff. I took this for May Interim and it was enjoyable.

DR.Young is awesome! she came in extra to help three of us when we didn't understand. we got to pickour own due dates and even though she have to know the software she figured things out and how to help us. she also helped me get an internship that paid and i have a great chance at a job because of my portfolio. if you care she cares

Condescending & rude.Doesn't know the progams very well & didn't know how to teach it.A student had 2 show her how 2 print something. same student had 2 help others in class bc she didnt know or they didnt want help from her.
