You have to read, and turn in your responses, weekly. There will be socratic-seminar style talks, in which you definitely participate. DO NOT refer to classmates as a whole as 'guys' (ex: hello, you guys!). Overall, she is a nice person trying to bring out the best in her students. Save all your work!!!!

I have taken her twice now and would take her again if she had 400 level courses. At the beginning she seems difficult, but if you just skim the reading and show up you will get a good grade. 2 short tests and 2 short papers. Everything else is just group based discussion. If you want an engaging SOC class wo the boring lecture, take this class

So she is the BEST teacher I have taken and this is my 4th year. Her syllabus is straight forward. She says there is a lot of reading, but honestly you do not even need to read just skim the work. It is all about participation and giving your opinion. Her learning style is open conversation, not much lecturing. I wish she taught more classes!

The entire class is discussion based so if you don't like speaking in front of everyone I do not recommend! You sit in a giant circle every week and just talk about the readings. One quiz, two papers, in class exercises and a final project where you get with a group and create your own discussion for the class.

Really helpful and super fun class, probably one of my favorites. Her class is always seminar style and she has you facilitate the lectures but pushes you through them. 1 quiz, 2 paper (which are super easy and only 2 pages), and 2 facilitation's and you're done. High recommended, not hard at all.

Unorganized professor. Relies on readings to teach the class for her. Interactive Lecture, so she never actually teaches. Little information in what could have been an interesting class. Do not disagree with the professor, any opinions other than hers are invalid, which becomes ironic. Easy A but painful class to sit through twice a week.

Wasn't happy with this class, your opinion doesn't matter. She will argue with you till you give up. The class is about inequality and working together in a partnership way. Not clear on what she wants and not helpful. I felt like I learned nothing. When you ask to clarify something she tells you to read the 40 pg. syllabus. Don't need book.

Do not take this class if you may have an opinion different from her. I wrote a paper on domestic violence against men, and even though I had stats to show it, she told the class it wasn't an issue and I failed the paper. She is a poor example of what a feminist should be. If you do have to take her, just smile and agree with her, you'll get an A.

Professor Crowdes is wonderful! Her class structure is confusing at first, but if you stick with it, it becomes very easy and clear. 2 essays, several facilitations, either a written take home essay final or multiple choice scantron. Very nice professor and you can tell she cares about everyone's learning. Would take her again for sure.

This was my favorite class in college so far. Her teaching style is different in that she doesn't stand up in front of the classroom and talk at you for 2 hours like everyone else. She gets you to think, and provides you with the tools to help make a change. Class is based on group work. Put in the effort & you'll do fine. Buy the book!

Soc 303 with crowdes is beyond easy. If you are incredibly shy and dont like talking in front of others then THIS IS NOT the class u want to take. There's a three page paper due pretty much each week and this class involves a lot of group time. If you want an A do the papers, talk, and just show up!

I could not take this professor seriously. You also will have no idea what your grade will be up until the very last day of class. This class was all about getting up and doing something about what you see wrong in society;but in practice all we did was regurgitate the same boring buzz words over and over in our papers.Advice: Take the class online.
