Comment:

I wasn't the biggest fan of her lecture style, but they were informative. Know everything for the exams. She takes the entire semester to grade the labs so you don't have any clue what your lab grade is until after the final exam. It was extra frustrating because there were a couple labs I think she made errors on.

ESSC 108 is a tough class but is manageable, class is graded on your best 12 out of 13 quizzes. Most of the questions can be found online if not they can be found in the textbook. DO NOT TAKE ESSC 109 (the lab) WITH HER. If you do happen to take it expect to spend about an hour on every lab and being confused the whole time you do them.

Dr. Poli is tough. I had her for an undergrad oceanography class and a graduate paleoclimatology class and both were rigorous. Especially the graduate class. But it's grad school. It should be tough. Some classmates complained that it was "too hard" but they were soft. What do you expect from a graduate level science course? I learned A LOT.

4 exams with questions that don't even relate to the lectures, 10 ish online labs that also don't relate to lectures. If there's any way you can take a class with another professor, do it! If not, be prepared to really really work for it, but don't expect an A. Also doesn't respond to emails. Attendance not required but used for borderline grades.

Took this class online over summer. Didn't open the book once. It was two 10pt quizzes a week (probably different in a 15 week session) and all of the answers were right on each of her week summaries in the main concepts. Print the main concepts, start the quiz and follow the main concepts for answeres and if you don't get an A...

This teacher is very nice, and easy to follow. The lecture is pretty dry tho. She tries to explain things in a way that everyone will understand. However she does have a pretty thick accent. The tests are a little challenging. It is outlined in the syllabus what is expected of you and there are no surprises.

She makes many errors in the labs she write which is frustrating while you're trying to read and comprehend what you're supposed to do. She never responds to e-mails and seems annoyed when you come with questions during her office hours. Shes very knowledgeable but not very good at teaching.

this class is online and there is only one word that comes to mind to describe this lady. Obviously she is too stupid to realize that this is a class for ELEMENTARY school teachers, everything in this class is 100% invaluable to you. Your stuff will NEVER be graded in time so good luck figuring out your grade during the semester.

This professor is absolutely terrible! Her online Earth Science course is nearly impossible! She takes days to respond to e-mails, and when she does, she is incredibly rude. She cannot make an assessment to save her life. Assignments are ambiguous and tend to be full of grammatical errors. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR. The amount of work required for this 100 level course far exceeded the 300 level course that I also took this semester. She did not follow her own syllabus by timely issuing grades after the exams. The online labs were ambiguous and communication from her consisted of sarcasm and arrogance. WORST AT EMU!

3 years at EMU and this has been the only bad class/professor I've had. The on-line section of this course is nearly impossible to succeed in due to a lack of clarification by the professor. I would advise another class if you're concerned about maintaining a perfect GPA!
