Comment:

This class was very organized and you will learn a lot of useful info and skills. She is not the nicest person in the world, but as long as you do the work, participate in lecture, and come with an informed question she will help you out - she really does care about the students. There is extra credit, and exams are straightforward.

Comment:

If you take her be prepared to put all of your other classes on the back burner to accommodate all the work she assigns. Very knowledgeable and gives good feedback but not a very nice person. She loves to belittle her students and make them feel stupid when they ask questions. Her tests are fair and she explains exactly what she wants from you.

Great teacher. I took Dr. T's intro to evolution last semester and it was lovely. She gives extra credit and even brought snacks for us on exam days! She helps you understand. I would definitely take her again.

Dr. Tahamont is an amazing teacher. You will work for your grade but it it worth it. Everything she teaches you in her class is going to be material and skills you will absolutely need. I will forever know how to cite my sources and never knew how much I need to know how to do so properly. She cares about her students and makes her class fun.

You will not find a better professor. I've never seen or heard of a more organized course, you will learn a lot of valuable skills, and the workload is immense (but doable). I'm the type of student who's happy with a B, but Dr. Tahamont brought the best out of me. I don't think I'll ever enjoy and respect another professor as much as her.

Maria Tahamont is an exceptional professor. Give her a chance! At first, she will seem intimidating and overwhelming with work assignments. I was scared of her. I soon learned that her demeanour reflected her PASSION of teaching and helping students. She really cares about your well-being and is always available to talk. Amazing teacher

Everyone that has given Dr. T a poor rating must not have wanted to learn. She is an incredible professor who has a great love of subject matter. Saying she is unapproachable - absolutely not! She is EXTREMELY tough and will not tolerate a lazy approach to her class. If you want to learn - take her course - if not take someone else.

Honestly, I don't like her all that much. Her personality is very unappealing, so she makes herself out to be really unapproachable. There is a lot of work involved with her class if you are lazy DO NOT TAKE. She comes off to be a bit demanding and expects a lot out of you but in the long run I guess it's helpful. I wouldn't take her again.

I had Dr. Tahamont for online A&P I and II. She was awesome and very understanding. shes very quick to grade and the information in general is fun to learn. It's hard to do the labs at home, but she helps with the videos she posts for them and understands it's hard to complete at home. I would definitely take her again.

If you want an easy teacher for Bio 3T, Maria Tahamont isn't recommended. If you want to learn a great deal regarding how to read scientific literature, write lab reports, and prepare for labs, Maria Tahamont is very highly recommended. She can be less forgiving at times if you don't follow her instructions. But she is usually fair.

Academically the work is challenging but engaging. Tough grader, lengthy tests. Makes herself available out of class, but makes it humiliating to ask for help. Very off-putting personality. Dr. Tahamont is a difficult professor but she really cares. She expects students to be adults. She loves what she does and you can tell. She is very organized and has perfected this course over the years. Prepare for group presentations, peer-reviewed lab reports, research papers, spreadsheet graphs, and tests. Her courses are probably the most difficult at Rowan (all majors). The first six weeks I was on the brink of dropping the course. Her demeanor made her seem unapproachable, however when i spoke to her she went out of her way to help me and was understanding. Despite getting a C in her course I feel prepared for any and all bio courses.

This class is really tough, the first month or so Dr. Tahamont is very intimidating and there is a lot of work. But if you are a bio major this class really is bio bot camp gets you prepared for other bios at Rowan. By the end of the semester it's easy cause you know what she expects just have to do the work and manage your time

Tests are multiple choice and short answer, papers and projects are individual and group work, so much homework. She is lacking tact in student relations but can be funny at times. Not very approachable, and often makes you feel like the question you asked was irrelevant. She gives way more work then other 3T teachers. Good luck--You'll need it.

Whoa! She is scary and she grades hard and honestly she can be downright mean. However, I am so glad that I took her because now I feel completely prepared for the rest of my bios at Rowan. It was like Bio boot camp. You will hate her in the beginning as most of us did, but by the end she was joking and laughing with us. She's amazing.
