Comment:

I came to USM hoping for an enriching dance experience. As this was a dance history class I was excited to learn about the culture surrounding dance. I did not get what I was hoping for. Professor Tzianabos's lectures were EXTREMELY hard to follow. She would go on tangents about things that weren't relevant to the class.

I really liked this class, and I am not a dancer. You are required to go to a performance and write a 3-5 page critique on it. You begin the class with pilates and then dance. My class learned 2 routines. You are only allowed one absence, after that your grade begins to suffer. She is easy going and kept reminding us to have fun!

This past semester I injured my back. Before becoming a dance teacher, Maria was a nursing student, so she has a unique perspective on her craft. She was able to help me find modifications for dance moves and for our pilates warm-ups before class. She knows when you are trying. Effort counts. You don't need to be a dancer to succeed here.

Not the greatest teacher as far as clarity or explaining things. Moves way too fast even during pilates (which are supposed to be SLOW). Kind of snippy attitude. Does not judge you harshly if you have 2 left feet, or can't really dance-just put in the effort and you'll be fine.It was way better than some other classes for the same F requirement.

Maria is awesome!! This class is very frightening at first, but just remember that everybody else is too so face your fear and get over it. The class itself is fun and is always different, so you won't get bored. It's a 1000x's better than taking Public Speaking, so take it!! :)

I dunno y ppl give her such bad ratings but her class is so easy! I have 2 left feet and the most clumsiest person you will ever meet and I still got an A in the class. All you need to do is try and that's all she wants. She's awesome and she's bad w/ names but come on she teaches at 4-5 different schools at the same time.Get over it! SOO EASY!

I loved taking this class and i recommend everyone not just to take it once but twice. I told all my friends about this class. She is awesome, friendly, helpful, and encouraging. I almost never got the moves but she helped me and took me through teh staps when i needed. The final was fun we had to go to see a play and write a paper. She is the best

Loved her! Key to this class is to attend every class and respect the subject. (work your ass off)Maria has been dancing since she was a kid and will work with anyone if they have the right attitude. She knew my name- but I actually smile at my professors.

I loved Maria. Many people here have complained that she changes the dance mid-stream. Waaah waah! That's what dance is about, people! Someone else complained that she only learns the names of hot guys. Not true! She is a professional through and through, but she won't put up with crybabies who are too lazy to work. A great person.

Maria, is very nice and laid back. Her class is casual and easy if you've never danced before. Sometimes it gets boring with dance videos. but you only have 2 papers to write for work the whole semester, you just dance/pilates each class.

Maria is a great person. She cares so much for the work that she does, and she expects that you respect dance as she does. She tries hard to get us to understand and love dance as much as she does. The class is a great workout, don't expect and easy class, but it's a great alternative to speech!

This is a neat class. I am a senior and I am taking a summer course for credit. Maria is very helpful and tells us how/what we are doing wrong. Even though I am clumsy I always feel comfortable in class. The pilates section of class is tough though.

This class is about learning and applying theories, so you have to know how to adapt (she does change things a lot!). If you treat this as seriously as any other class, it's great.
