One of the worst profossors I have ever taken at West Chester. She is disorganized and constantly makes up assignments as she goes. She never uses D2L and would email last minute assignments to students and expect you to get it done for the next day. She has her own agenda for the class and to go against it will get you nowhere with her.

Dr. Van Liew is a wonderful person. She is really fun, inspirational, and intelligent. She brings a great energy to the classroom. That being said, she is probably the most unorganized professor I've had here and will spring random assignments on you that are due the next day and they aren't in the syllabus. It's hard to keep up in this class.

As someone else stated, avoid her like the plague. If you enjoy eating femi-nazi liberal BS for breakfast, then you will certainly enjoy it, considering she cannot go 1 day without shoving it down your throat. When a liberal prof asks you if you've ever had a non-liberal professor and "how that felt", then its fair to say she should not be in educ.

Maria is very out there. She is a free spirit who seems to be floating on clouds all semester. As she discusses the films, she does not discuss in a way that is conducive to taking notes. She is very subjective and tries to get everyone to see her opinion rather than objective facts. If it wasnt for her subjectivity, this class would be an easy A.

LNC 503 was a hard class, but failing is not an option, besides those LNC are giving once every circle is finished. Be prepare to work, write, make projects, read, watch movies, created a Power Point presentation, quizzes, group projects and finally a make 10-page research paper. If you want your master you need to pass this class and the others

Very un-organized. Expects you to know everything about Spain and gets easily frustrated when you don't. Assignments are long and take a lot of time and focus. Must attend every class to remotely understand what is going on. Watches a lot of movies that are only available in class. Do not recommend unless you have good knowledge of Spain/Spanish.

Van Liew can be quite a confusing professor at times! Sometimes she's super fun and sweet but then she'll turn around and rip your work apart. You can tell she really wants you to do well, but often makes it hard to do so. Also fairly unorganized. Overall nice professor, but wouldn't recommend this class for minors..

Van Liew is one of the most conceited professors I have ever met. Her tests are on analyzing poems and short stories that we read in class. Make sure you know what her thoughts about the works are because if you don't write what she thinks you probably won't pass the class. She is a very odd grader meaning one day you'll get an A and the next a D-.

Dr. Maria Vanliew is one of the best professors I have had at WCU! She is clear in what she expects out of you, and what you should expect out of her class. Her class is not an easy A, you have to work for your grade but that's the only way you learn! I absolutely love her eccentricity and I hope to be as great of a professor one day!!!

Dr. VL is kinda out there. She's very interested in the class. However if havent taken a film class before you will be totally lost. She very rarely makes sense. Most of the class looks obviously confused. Grading is based on papers and there are some group papers as well. You get to watch some interesting movies though.

She is a really nice person and she doesn't make class boring but the workload is crazy. I took 6 classes when i took this class and her class was the most demanding of all. There a weekly quizzes which you should study for. There are no actual tests except the final which was awesome. If you can, take another teacher.

Unorganized. Doesn't really teach you anything and forces you to learn on your own. Instead of buying the books, take your money, buy a plane ticket, and go to Mexico for a semester. You'll learn more.

Maria is one of the most interesting people you will ever meet. She's flighty, a little unorganized, but she makes up for it with her sense of humor, her wit, and her expansive knowledge of both grammar and culture. Can't wait to take 320 with her!

Dr. Vanliew is my favorite professor at West Chester. She is so enthusiastic about what she teaches and so down to earth. I had her for SPA 301 and i hope I am able to take her for many more Spanish classes in my next 2 years here. She is a very knowledgeable woman and is willing to help anyone with problems they are having. Take her!

I had her for 320 and 301. She is very energetic and keeps you interested because of that. 320 is a bit of a challenge work-wise, but 301 is easier because she makes the grammar simple. Very helpful woman. She has an awesome life, too.

Great body too, I just admire her yogic, athletic body. Great energy and quite contagious. I had a great semester and alot about myself because of her teachings.
