She docked me off participation points for being in the hospital for surgery. Then later when it was acting up again (got infected) she docked off points again. I sent an email both times well in advance but she said, "Well you weren't here" Although in class she acted super concerned which made me more mad.

The homework was a piece of cake. She words her tests oddly and gives you the problems that you didn't do that many of in your homework. You do get a 8.5x11 cheat sheet for your tests though (all handwritten). Make sure you are good at and enjoy math before taking this class. She warns you in the beginning about that, but not many listen.

This class is a very difficult class and is structured on how to relearn math skills so that you can teach them in multiple ways. Overall if you get on Marie's good side and do your homework, and go to class you will do fine. Just pay attention and if you need help ask for it.

Marie was always available. Her communication is impeccable - I was never left guessing what she meant, what assignments were due or what was expected of me. I'd take her again (in fact, it looks like I'm going to have to).

From the start she says that online classes are harder. I have taken many classes online but be prepared to teach yourself. The book is less than helpful. Her suggestions are to get a tutor. Her only interaction with the class is a homework assignment every few weeks. I take some responsibility for withdrawing but stay away from this professor

The most unhelpful teacher I have ever taken from. Basically teaching yourself, she was just there to tell you you were wrong. Never helped with questions either. Completely unbelievable.

This is not a teacher. I only ever used her textbook because she was so unhelpful. The class would have been easier if she wasn't there at all. In addition she is extremely rude and unproffesional. Oregon State generally has higher standards but they appear to have made a mistake in hiring her. I hope they correct it.

Franzosa is a great teacher when it comes down to relearning basic math concepts and being able to explain them to kids. The class is a whole new way of thinking and for that reason it is challenging. Points are taken off for very little things but we're teachers and we need our explanations to be clear. I would recommend her for sure!

A good teacher, I would recommend her. There is homework due every class and a quiz once a week. She is very very nice and tries to lighten up the classroom as much as possible. The exams are not too hard if you study. In class it is almost nothing but group work so you will be working with everyone in the class.

She is a good teacher. I you have homework due every time you come to class, and quizzes once per week. She is very very nice and tries to lighten the mood in the classroom. She is probably the worst math teacher. She acts like everyone should understand math and that if they don't they aren't worth her time. She doesn't see any way to solve problems besides how she would. Several times I would ask her ?s about why I lost points and she would make dumb excuses even though i had the right answer. Do not take her classes

Very available for extra help, if needed. Reasonable when you politely point out mistakes/corrections. Tests/quizzes are graded harshly but this class is for future elementary math teachers who need to be able to explain their thinking clearly! Clear expectations/directions about participation, tests, quizzes, etc. So glad I switched to her class!!

The worst teacher I've ever had.She was rude and confusing.Wacky and hard to understand, she went a little over the top at times and if you weren't as excited she'd instantly take you off her favorites list.She did have favorites.She also told a friend of mine to drop the class because she wouldn't get it.
