I was so afraid of the Parthenon class, and especially taking McClure because of the bad reviews... but I ended up getting an A in the class (worked my bum off for it) and I went to McClure for help often. She does NOT accept excuses, so write your stories and use that stylebook! Use your BRAIN to come up with story ideas Stay prepared and you pass

This professor is not at all helpful. She contradicts every statement she makes. Prof. McClure also has unbelievable and ridiculous standards for her students. Thankfully she's retiring at the end of the school year. The J school will be better off.

Needs to retire SOON! She'll help you if you ask nicely. Other than that, she is very much on the borderline of CRAZY. To get an A in her class you should really get your stories edited by The Parthenon editors before turning them in. The editors do a better job teaching the class than the professors do!

Ugh! She's rude, scatter-brained and odd. She will tell you one thing, mean another and then contridict the entire statement.

Soon to retire. Split personality. If you act confident and are a good writer, she won't have a problem with you and this class will be smooth sailing. She often contradicts herself. Ask her for advice and she'll love you. Disagree with something she says and she will constantly try to argue with you. Is intimidating and tends to be reclusive.

I got an A easily in her class, people complain about her way too much. It's so easy! Just follow the syllabus and do what she tells you and if you aren't lazy you can easily get an A! People can't handle the deadlines for some reason and blame her for requiring them to turn in stories! *Gasp, just imagine, WORK!*

I don't know what the other people giving her good marks were smoking. Their noses were probably more than a little brown. Not fair, not clear, not in touch with reality, hasn't had real media experience since the invention of the printing press, doesn't know how to teach, I could go on but I'm trying to be nice. Stay away!

A good class. Marilyn is a little messed up in the head. I like the comment that you never know if she's going to smile sweetly or bite your head off. Bottom line: she knows her stuff. If you're looking for someone who will teach you a lot and make you into a good journalist, take her. If you just want a good grade, avoid her liek the plauge.

This is a class where you just have to do what is asked of you and there wont be any problems, that is if you can write. Marylin is a great woman, but you just have to know how to handle her. Word of advice she doesn't like confrontations so don't start one or she will finish it. But deep down she is a good person.

Most of you guys are simply whiny chumps. I had Marilyn for class 2 years ago, then she was my boss when I was an editor at the Parthenon. She's a great person and helpful. She even loaned me money once!

This woman is a good reason to change your major. She is by far the most unfair professor at Marshall and the sad thing is nearly every JMC student is forced to take her...well good freakin luck.
