Comment:

Professor Philips is an amazing teacher! She truly cares about her students and wants us to do our best. Her class was overall an easy A, but you need to be on top of homework! she gives you a chance to makeup homework and she replaces your worst test with your final test grade. I got a 99% on the final, so if you pay attention, youll pass :)

Prof Philips was tolerable. Let me just say, she knows what she's doing & does it well. Homework is online & very heavy at times. Tests are difficult & require focus. If you miss one class it will feel like you are a week behind. Do the hw, study very often & understand concepts. She drops lowest grade for final if it is higher, so that's nice.

Since is a math class, it requires to do all the tasks and study a lot to pass. the teacher always takes the time to answer questions from the students. Although sometimes she advances quickly, she does explain the topics well.

She moves very fast, every day is a new section and she does not go over what was learned last class in the next class. If you do not do the homework, you will fail because the homework teaches you more than she does. She also takes the questions right from the homework and puts them on quizzes and tests. Nice lady though. Never cancels class

Although Marina is very passionate about math, she forgets that others aren't. If you are left behind then you really have to step up and get help after hours. She relies heavily on MyOpenMath which I don't mind because I find that its easier to follow then listen to her in class, However she doesn't follow the videos so you can easily get lost.

Went in for extra help a bunch of times because I was struggling, actually told me I need to think for myself and not come in so much for that. Only grades on exams of about 11 sections per exam. No mercy on grades. Rushes through everything. I did hours of work at home and still couldn't pass.

She is a very tough teacher, moves fast and does not care about students. She will not offer ANY extra credit, she does not drop lowest grade. You are mostly on your own in this class, in class work is completely different from tests. If you take this class you will be mostly teaching yourself.

Moves very fast through concepts and has little time to go over students' questions. Test examples completely different from those practiced in class and on homework, and doesn't usually give partial credit which brings grades down. Pretends to care about students, but is actually cold and distant. If you struggle with math, I wouldn't recommend.

Horrible teacher. Doesn't care about students. Teaches too fast. Your'e on your own in this class. Don't take unless you are seriously interested in the Math field. If you are looking for a class just for credit take your chances somewhere else. Teaches one thing 1 class then something new on the next. Test are hard. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR 172

She is a tough grader. She goes through the curriculum so fast. For example, if you take her classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, you will learn a section on a chapter on Tuesday and have homework Tuesday and learn something completely new Thursday of the same week. I recommend her if your a face spacer but she really does not take the time to explain.

Grades her class fairly and is very enthusiastic about math and learning. Tries to relate personal interests with math to help bridge the gap in learning. Precise and to a point. Teaches quickly but thoroughly. Expects homework to be done and attendance to be kept.

She teaches the class very fast & it's hard to keep up. She never reviews for tests & there is constantly homeworktake home quizzes. She grades ridiculously harsh & gives no opportunity for extra credit. She doesn't even drop a test grade which makes the class that more tough. She doesn't care about her students & how they are doing in her class.

Professor Philips is very nice. she tries to be as clear as she can. If she is moving to fast just ask her to slow down and she will. she is a fair grader, but make sure you do your homework and study or you will not do well (that should go for every class). overall good teacher.

Consider this a REAL college course in which you will get your money's worth. Calculus in general is a very hard subject. If it wasn't for the positive vibe from professor Philips and her always offering to help I wouldn't have understood it. I recommend trying to do 1 homework ahead of her discussion so you can bring your questions to class.

This is one of those classes where you can do all the homework and classwork then get the test and be like HUH!?!?! I feel like she could be a great teacher, she's just stuck in a very high school-y habit of teaching. She likes to show off what she knows instead of teaching and is very sarcasticrude.

She is extremely nice but I'm sorry, she is a horrible teacher. She skips over steps without any explanation whatsoever. And she spends too much time answering dumb questions. Her grading system is pretty strange as well. I would not take another class with her.
