Grade is completely based on 2 essays and 1 final. Each worth 33%. Professor Smiley is good. Very nice. Grading criteria for essay's wasn't quite as clear as it could've been. But "What is Justice?" class was an interesting concept.

Smiley is really friendly and content is very interesting. She offers like 10 different essay topics each time so you're bound to know what to write for at least 1 topic out of those even if you haven't kept up with the course load. She does ask some thought provoking questions.

Great professor. While her lectures may not be engaging for those not interested, if you like the subject you'll be drawn in. Is very helpful with essay feedback, and is exceptionally open to well-articulated ideas in a class that covers contentious topics (drug use, abortion, assisted suicide). If you're interested in ethics, take Smiley!

Professor Smiley is a really great and intelligent professor. That said, her lecture style is awful and boring for a class as large as Intro to Ethics was. Most people just seemed to play games on their computers and were not engaged in the class at all due to her style of asking questions and only moving on when she had one specific answer.

Very nice, class always felt a bit long and boring, but you can tell she really loves what she teaches. Papers weren't bad and final (a short quiz) was even easier than I thought and I didn't have high expectations. I liked the class.

fantastic professors, one of my favorites. She knows a ton about philo and stimulates class discussions well. LOVES participation and her students. draft option for both papers, no final, just an easy quiz during the exam period. extremely fair grader.
