His Compilers class was extremely difficult. Mark Bailey, PhD, is one of the only professors on campus who "tells it like it is". He gives fantastic, informal, highly coherent, detailed yet simple lectures. He's a tough grader and has high expectations, but he'll help you outside of class if you ask.

Although Prof. Bailey's teaching skills are excellent, few students get along with him due to his weak communication skills and inaccessibility. While I don't feel I get along well with him, I learn more in his classes than those of any other professor, and his expectations are reasonable, albeit a bit high, so overall I like him as a professor.

Not very forgiving at first, but willing to work with students if they show interest and ability. Very clear explanations, somewhat arrogant at times but I think he's just trying to be humorous. Make sure you pay close attention when he is teaching and attend class. If you have some grasp of logic and do your work you'll do fine.

Definitely the toughest teacher I have ever met! Very arrogant but helps if you go to office hours. He tends to make fun of you every day. Very hard class and the tests are impossible. Definitely need to read the textbook or you wont learn. Be afraid...very afraid.

The very definition of "tough love." Classes are DIFFICULT, and he doesn't hold your hand. But if you pay attention, you'll be okay, and if you're truly stuck, he's very helpful in getting you through the course. It's an uphill climb, but you inevitably learn a lot.
