Do not take this class. Fowler is one of the most boring and difficult professors that I have taken. He basically wants you to take notes of his opinions verbatim and then regurgitate them on his papers. It is extremely hard to follow along in class though because he just rants to the ceiling for 50 minutes.

Super easy and mostly everyone got an A. Environmental ethics was super interesting, but he mainly made the same couple points throughout the semester. He assigns a lot of reading but you can get away with not reading all of it. We also had two short papers, an oral presentation, and a final paper. Hes a super easy grader and values participation.

It's an easy class that is very optional attendance-wise. The subject matter is very interesting so it has the potential to be a great class, but professor fowler just talks the whole time without much opportunity for open discussion. Just turn in the assignments (short papers, one big presentation, take home exams) and you'll get an A

I'm in class writing this review right now and not missing much in the process. Despite being an Environmental Ethics class, Professor Fowler has brought up the Holocaust in 9 out of the last 10 classes. Memorize his political beliefs and you don't even have to show up for class. No one really knows what is going on in this class.

Honestly this class fell short of my expectations. It has a potential to be a great class, but there is virtually no class discussion except for during the group presentations and the class tends to focus on a certain viewpoint. If you have taken a class with Dennis Taylor, he is similar but with more hand-motions and lecturing up into the air.

This class is more about understanding his political opinions than the material itself. Keep up with the readings and take notes verbatim from the lecture and you should do great! Also all the midterms and final are take-home exams.

I skipped this class so often and did great. Just do the readings. And make sure you know due dates (he doesn't post them).

He knows what he's talking about, but his lectures are extremely boring, and the class is very unstructured. He says he welcomes discussion but shuts down every opinion that is different from his. Terrible handwriting. Easy A but don't expect it to be interesting.

Professor Fowler is a good professor. Class can get boring at times because it's mostly him lecturing, rather than making it interactive. But the material is interesting. Exams are take home, and they are more like essays than exams. There are only two, and they aren't too hard. One presentation, which isn't graded that hard either. Good GER7.

You really don't have to do the reading-- you just need the internet to understand the philosophies discussed in class. Check in once a week, and make sure to do the assignments-- there are very few, but b/c it's crucial to do them. He grades very easily. More of an idea class than a fact class. Great way to know out 2 GERs

Fowler knows his stuff, but after the first few lectures, you stop paying attention the way you should. It is probably the easiest way to knock out two GER's. Don't buy all the books (just the ones you need, you'll know after the first week of classes or so). The grading wasn't lienient as others claim, but minimal work is required for a B.

Prof. Fowler seems like a character at first, but when you listen to his lectures he really makes sense. He makes you think about your impacts on the enviro and on society in ways you never would have thought about. His class is about real world issues and is very interesting. However, be careful not to zone out in his lectures.

Prof. Fowler is an incredibly intelligent guy, and this becomes more evident the deeper into class one goes. You may be frustrated by his seemingly liberal attitudes early on, but he shows a great willingness to analyze, and criticize, all points of view. Very easy grader; even when you think you did poorly on a presentation, you get an A.

Sweet guy, but not a great lecturer. Assignments are easy, grading isn't tough, and he's more interested in you getting the big picture than nitpicking little things. Enjoyable class!

Took this class as a freshman and was both amazed at it being manageable if you do the work and how it made me think differently about the envi. Can be sort of boring but if you pay attention to what he says you will be surprised how much he makes sense. A group project, small papers biweekly, midterm and final, all doable with above avge effort.

By far the most enlightening class offered. I had no interest in this class before and was taking it only for GER 7, but I've learned more in this one class than I have in all of my other classes this semester combined. Fairly easy workload; midterm and final are take home. Reading isn't necessary; he'll explain more than you'll get from it anyways

When I write down verbatim what he says while lecturing, and then end of class I look at my paragraphs and go whoa, this is a perfect essay on this topic. Amazing. No crazy tangents, and still very interesting. Thats a lot more then I can say for other teachers.
