Comment:

He's an okay teacher. He is passionate in this subject, however, sometimes he's too passionate. By week three we were behind in the learning and a lot of it seemed self taught. You have exams, map quizzes and textbook quizzes to do, however, they aren't too difficult. He is extremely friendly and I have never seen him in a bad mood!

Comment:

Map Quizzes are a breeze if you study them. They help pad your grade. If you get all As on them it'll help your grade. The exams are tough. He does provide a study sheet to aid help. Go over it and READ YOUR CHAPTERS. He will easily pull 10 questions from the reading that weren't necessarily covered in class to see if you read.

Comment:

In the beginning of the semester, the class dragged and Guizlo did not cover the material very well, but as the semester progressed, problems were addressed and the class was smoother. The main problem may have been the students in the class, but Guizlo gets off topic easily. Mainly it's because he wants to adequately answer student's questions.

Comment:

Class was easy and straightforward, discussion boards, weekly quizzes and review assignments, all open book. Instructor did not give much feedback or participate on the discussion boards so you are pretty much on your own. Recommend taking as an 8 week online course.

While he is very interested in geography, he has way too much going on with his other work to provide grades/feedback to use on the next assignments. We had to use two text books - one for lecture and the other for lab. Rarely did we use the lecture text. The workbook is hard to follow for those just learning GIS.

He is very interested in what he is teaching. He gets off on tangents a lot. If you pay attention in class and read the book, you should not get lower than a B. The lectures tend to be kind of boring though.

Professor Guizlo loves what he is teaching, but gets off track very easily. He runs out of time in class b/c he talks so much. Sometimes he didnt finish everything before a test but we were still tested on it. Tests are easy if you read the book and study well, there is map location questions, multiple choice, and short answer definition questions

Class was very boring and it was extremely hard not to fall asleep. He got off the subject matter every class period. No one knew what material was going to be covered on the tests. He may know a lot about geography, but I didn't learn anything from him.

Guizlo is an interesting guy. He's def a geographer if I've ever met one. He lived in Zimbabwe & other parts of the world doing work. His class is pretty easy, you just have to study EVERYTHING on the study guides & you'll do well. His class started off the semester being interesting but lost a lot of steam the last few weeks. Still, take w/ him!

Very nice guy. I only took the class because I needed it, but I felt like I learned quite a bit. Sometimes I felt like he talked about unrelated things too much, but he gets through the material well and tells you pretty clearly what will be on the tests. If he's not moving fast enough, he DOES move tests to a later date.

Only take Geography with M. Guizlo A+A+! His Online class was Awesome! Took this through the summer and consisted of weekly discussion boards. One test and Two homework assignments per week that was based out of the book and DVD(MUST HAVE). Shows that learning can be easy, best online class ever. never had to go to class or test center.

Mark is very knowlegable at what he does. He makes the class verty cool and the class is enjoyable. His on-line quizes you can take over and over till you get a grade that you want. He tells his students to go to a lecture series and get extra credit points. He is is in his office and always is helpful with questions.

Comment:

I took his class online and on campus, and both times I did well. Online was nice if you are good at exams, because our entire grade was from exams--no quizzes, papers, or any busy work. It could be a little boring sometimes, but not too bad.
