Mark Hale knows his stuff. There's a reason he's the chair of the department. Had him for LING 473 and currently for LING 475 (filling in for another prof) and he's hilarious. Everything he says is clear, at times he may digress, but he's engaging, and knows when to pack in the funny joke. Super intelligent man and his theories are some of the best

nice and funny guy. he's a known figure in linguistics, he discovered some theory, and even has his own wikipedia page. Pretty sure he's the reason linguistics at Concordia has a high reputation. He is very casual and is always late. you don't need to show up to pass, EVERYTHING is multiple choice and very straightforward.

Test's are completely multiple choice, if you go to class and do the readings its an easy class. It's practically impossible to fail this class. He's very animated when he lectures and has a dry sense of humour, love going to this class. Would definitely take again.

Great teacher, funny guy. The course itself is not that hard but can get confusing. Prof. Hale makes sure you do not get things mixed up since this is an intro course. The latenessStarbucks rumours are true but it's a good time to asktalk to peer classmates. The course again isn't that difficult so the lateness isn't too detrimental.

Mark Hale is a great teacher. He is funny and passionate about what he is teaching. The TA was also very helpful! The material is not hard at all and I would recommend anyone to take this class as a GPA booster.

Very relaxed and fluid lecturing style. Impressive depth and breadth of knowledge. Very amusing examples help process the information. you can see by how he teaches that he really understands cognition and learning. Wants everyone to do well, his m-c questions are very easy, the answer is usually in the question.

I will admit this class originally didn't get me too excited about linguistics but I learned a lot and ended up loving the subject. Professor Hale was helpful and incredibly knowledgable while being very engaging. Highly recommended.

He is the best Professor I have ever had the privilege to work with. He is also an amazing person. He cares about the students, he is unbelievably knowledgeable about different aspects of his field. There should be more Profs and more humans like him on the face of this earth.

I loved Mark because he gets you to think above and beyond what is done in Linguistics. He takes theories, destroys them and rebuilds them. He gladly calls BS things that make no sense and explains why. I loved the challenge of his classes. This is university and he's getting you to think, Harvard style.

Very funny guy. He really knows what he's talking about, it shows in his lectures. Although the course material may be boring at times, Marc manages to keep the material interesting at all times. Reading the textbook is a must, which is provided online. Attend lectures, study the material and you will get an A.

Chill prof. Actually wants you to learn, not just memorize notes for exams. Exams are a joke. Material is boring and he can drift off. Just leave the lecture, it's all in the notes/book he wrote. Good overall experience, better than most LING profs.
