Comment:

A little intense at times, but Professor Hall has crafted an excellent and informative class, which is noteworthy considering that it's online. This is one of the three classes that I've had that I regularly think back to and apply. Expect to be held to a normal, adult level of responsibility, and to provide evidence for your claims.

Comment:

Terrible communicator and grader. There is a divide between what is asked for and what is reality. This teacher takes the fun out of learning. This guy has a bad attitude when you question certain aspects of the class. Would not recommend this class.

If you are a bad student, this is the perfect class for you. Grades are assigned at random (seriously) so you have nothing to lose! Plus, you're probably already used to professors treating you like cancer. Best of luck!

Just the facts. He's not interested in your insight he wants specific examples to support your discussion posts. I enrolled in the 6 weeks class, if it were one module a week I would have done much better. He provides clear criteria for passing the class in the syllabus. I'm a mother, wife, work full time and take 12 units, this class is do-able,

Take another class! If you do all the work it takes hours to finish you watch extremely boring films, read LONG required reading & have to watch extra long clips. Also be ready to be VERY descriptive in the hw & when you think your describing something with great detail he will tell you to be more descriptive & more detailed every single time!

Despite all of the low ratings he has received, he is an excellent professor. If you're serious about learning how to write, he will show you how. He has a low tolerance for laziness and not turning in work. But if you try hard you'll definitely do well. I took one of his classes and got a C, but then I took two more of his classes and got As!

I am generally a good student and had a hard time with this class. The movies you watch are mostly really boring and there is usually a lot of reading and extra documentariesvideos to watch every week. If you do exactly as his discussion post instructions say you will get a C. It was more like a movie-themed writing class. Harsh grader.

I've been a straight A student for my entire college career until this class... This teacher is quite honestly the worse instructor I have ever had. He's not clear with instruction and then proceeds to grade assignments incredibly harsh. I've asked multiple students to check my work before I submit it and they all say it's A quality. Fire Him.

If you're going to take an online class, I wouldn't take this one. The movies we had to watch were really boring, except for maybe two of them. He doesn't give that clear of instructions and then grades really harshly on the discussion posts. If you put in the effort, then you might do okay in this class but I would not take it again.

Mark Hall is an honest guy. He gives good feedback. You may not receive the grade you feel you deserve at first, but he will tell you what you need to do. If you simply show improvement throughout the class, he will give you the best grade you earned. I would suggest him. He honestly improves your creative writing, and teaches interesting material!

Simply walked us through a tutorial one time per unit and left groups up to try and do work they didn't really understand. If you get a good group you'll be alright but keep in mind the leader controls your whole grade!! My only D in college and I put in effort!!

His grading is inconsistent and does not appear to follow his own rubric. His "samples" and explanations do nothing to help people understand anything more other than you must quantify your data. The major concern I have is that every message he sends out regarding grades or material he has a condescending tone to his postings. I Do not recommend.

This guy is ridiculous! I was informed by another instructor that he doesn't put effort into grading, he gives everyone a C to pass them and that is all. He was on vacation for the first three weeks of class. If you can't be there, then don't teach the class. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR. HORRIBLE!

I was really interested in the subject matter but the way he grades you is ridiculous. Always wanted "specific examples" from the videos but failed to see the ones right in front of his face when grading my posts / essays. I started drinking heavily by mid semester because everything I turned in got a random ass grade.
