Comment:

I loved Hankin's class. As far as math profs at Eastern go, you wont find better. He teaches quick, but is extremely forgiving with his grading (partial credit instead of a 0). He is clear on what he expects from you, and runs a review for 2 days before your tests. Overall, this guy is badass with a slight gambling addiction ;)

Comment:

Compared to the professor I had before him, he was amazing. He goes fast, but he has to, and he is willing to help to the best of his ability. He isn't there to fail you, but if you don't pay attention or do the work he will. It is do or don't and if you do, you'll get out of there with a passing grade.

This is a horrible class. He goes WAY to fast, he is impersonal, he seems very condescending when people ask questions, he scribbles all over the board, and never introduces concepts just starts doing them. Often complains about the book, and teaches different than the book, but all the course material is from the book. sucks.

At times, it seems as though he cares while other times he makes you feel stupid- basically he's a smart aleck and I am not sure he has much control over that. He moves through material very quickly-but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he does his best with the time given-I am more critical of the course-too much material for 1 sem.

He explains things really well. He does move fast, but only because he has to. He gives great reviews before tests too. Make sure to be there everyday or get notes from someone because you can get behind.

Overall a good instructor. I thought his lectures were good, although he tended to go quickly. You really have to go to class every day and keep up on homework. He really cares for his students, and has a lot of advice for life especially financial. I would recommend him.

Moves way too fast through the material. Doesn't seem interested in helping students learn. VERY impersonal. Very tough grader. Unique point system on tests. Does not seem like he really enjoys teaching that much. Questions from student are an imposition to him, and makes you feel stupid if you ask questions.

He is a wonderful teacher. He really cares about his students and tries to give you as many points as possible even if you get the problem wrong. I have a horrible time in math and he made it VERY easy for me to learn such a difficult subject. I would recommend everyone take him!! He even let the class make up points on a test!!!

VERY obnoxious. He should go back to school and take up lessons in teaching. Not everyone with a Masters in Mathematics is a teacher. It should be a passion, not a burden. To Hankin it is a burden to deal with students. So do not take him if you want to learn and/or you want to pass. A solid guarantee you will not learn; most likely not pass.

Totally useless professor. Do not take him if you want someone to actually teach you the concepts you need on the test. Totally rude, and could care less about you as a student. More interested in his own agendas. Has no interest in teaching--doubt he can. Your basic rude Math instructor. Do not take anything from him if you want someone to care

Comment:

Good professor, doesn't get too in-depth, too little time for that. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities, there are very few. Take good notes, go EVERY day, or else you will miss important material. Last chapter is on finance, and he works for a investment firm, so it's actually really interesting. Gives good tips for investing.

Had to drop two different math classes he taught because he moved so fast I couldn't keep up. Students who already had a fair grasp of the concepts seemed to do well, but I would tell those who aren't quick to pick up mathematical concepts to steer clear of him. He moves/talks/teaches toooo fast!

Very smart and experienced teacher, teaches well but doesn't delve into the reasons why certain equations work the way they do (he just wants you to trust him), very helpful as long as you ask questions. Highly recommend!

He is a very laid back teacher. He will give you important information about investments. You need to do homework and study for texts and you will do fine. I liked him a lot and every time I had a question he was there to answer it. Nice guy.

He goes through examples in class pretty fast, and messes up a lot. Not very easy to follow if you have no intrest in math. He grades test really weird but he is a pretty nice guy. If you have little interest in Math then do not take this professor.

Doesn't seem like he enjoys teaching. Rather impatient, impersonal. Examples worked on the board were straight from book, nothing new. I appreciated the chance to have a "cheat sheet" for exams, and did OK in the class, but didn't enjoy it much.
