He may not be effective for the GWRTC classes, but he does well with ethical thinking. Lots to discuss and participate in them. This class not only helped me write better, but develop my views better too. Participate even if you dont know much. All he wants are your opinions. (Likes to know what you think). Also go to the writing center if you can

Dr. Hawthorne is very nice guy. However, his grading criteria is very unclear. We have done two "projects" with only one more to count towards our final grade. With having only 3 assignments, it would be an easy A if he weren't such a harsh grader. For a gened, its way too harsh and unclear

Gives no direction about projects.. He also is a really tough grader and doesn't even teach the material related to the class. All we did was three "projects" and there was little to no guidance to each. If you struggle with writing, he is not very willing to help you and just tells you to figure it out on your own.

Hawthorne really made my first semester of college enjoyable. He really teaches you how to write. He is super up to date with the times. He was always open to new ideas and doing research as to how to teach us best for the time we live in. Great person. I would recommend him and his class to anyone that asked.

He's the most interesting person I've ever met. This class was honestly my favorite WRTC class. It was discussion based with 500 word opinionated papers due every week that I got A's on every time. He has so many interesting stories and he really gets you thinking. Definitely take this class.

EASIEST CLASS EVER!!!!! Professor hawthorne is the nicest person ever. He gives you a rubric for a paper and if you follow up on that and maybe get help from the writing center you will not get below a B. The people who fail probably never looked at his grading rubric. Half the semester you're only making business cards and resumes!

Without a doubt one of my favorite professors I've ever had. Discussion based class, and he is SO interesting. We didn't have a final, but some of us showed up anyway just to talk to him for another two hours. TAKE THIS CLASS.

Hawthorne is an amazing professor who is passionate about introducing new writing formats This is more oriented towards business writing, rather than academic so it is practical in that sense If you hate grammar or can't do it for your life might wanna take another class He grades memos, resumes, and other assignments mainly on grammar

Hawthorne is a very interesting man. He has so many stories and such an interesting background. Just when you think his life cannot get more bizarre, he hits you with an irrelevant anecdote. Goes off on a lot of tangents. Has a very specific expectation for your writing. Just learn how to write how he wants and don't deviate from that format.

Dr. Hawthorne is the sweetest man who really wants to see you improve. We had like 3 or 4 main projects throughout the semester with a business letter due each week. So easy and wants to help you. He also cancelled class the last week of the semester to allow 'personal work days' for our final project. He's awesome and a total sweetheart.

Dr. Hawthorne is a great teacher for writing. We have 3 major projects throughout the semester. Two are individual and one is group. We had to write weekly memos (don't worry he teaches you how to write them) and he grades strictly on grammar. As long as you follow his grammar rules you will get an A on everything.

Mark is a great guy but not the best professor. He assigns memos, business letters, and reports which is nice because they're more real-world than writing essays. However, the main projects are a video and a blog that requires knowledge of photoshop and illustrator. He cancels class a lot which is nice, but seems like a waste of money.

Best GWRIT professor! Honestly, this class couldn't be any easier. Majority of papers are 1 page and 3 "projects" (essays) that are 1,000-1500 words, but he doesn't really enforce that. He grades stricly on punctuation and grammar. 3 mistakes= A 6 mistakes= B 9 mistakes= C
