Comment:

By far the worst online class I've had. It's the end of the semester and he's graded one thing. Assignments are not clear and you won't get a response if you ask for clarification. Students have been on the discussion boards asking each other for help since he isn't around. I can't say if it's easy to pass since its Nov and I don't know my grade!

Took this course for a half semester. 6 papers in total (1 per week), not hard but very tedious, and for every small error you get deducted many points. Professor Hills gives vague instructions, responds very slowly to online discussion questions. Would not take this class again.

Comment:

I took an online half term class with Professor Hills. For a class that focuses on communication, his communication was horrendous. The assignments were extremely vague despite the fact that he graded very strictly. His communication was very poor and I often went into assignments feeling like I had very little idea of what to do.

He is very unclear in what he expects. Doesn't respond to questions quickly and when he does respond he only answers some questions. Takes forever to grade and his feedback is very unclear. He didn't plan out work well so we were rushing to finish a lot at the end of the term.

I am currently in this class, and I have no idea what is going on. He isn't clear on anything, doesn't respond to questions quickly, and if you do one thing wrong on a paper you immediately get a 75%. DON'T DO IT. save yourself.

Class was very easy and slow (online course). Professor took a while to grade papers. Feedback on papers was very hard to understand. He highlighted things and left a number beside it, then you had to refer to a chart to find out what that number means... Didn't make it very easy or helpful.

I think he's just slow*. He is not at all organized. And he takes forever to respond. He doesn't care and isn't clear. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. YOU WILL REGRET IT. HE'S TERRIBLE. I learned nothing. He's also a mean grader. His grading isn't tough, it's just unreasonable and unclear. PLEASE do yourself a favor and take another professor.

I took Professor Hill's class and made an A. There are 10 assignments total. 9Papers and a research proposal youtube video recording of yourself. Not very specific but not a tough grader. Write the papers how ever you'd like and just make sure you follow and direction he gives and you will do fine. All papers are 1-2 pages. Outlines/resumes/memos/

Honestly, I'm not real sure how this dude has a B grade on here. His instructions are about as unclear as reading chinese. He takes FOREVER to grade an assignment so you have no idea how well you're doing, coupled with the fact that his grading is completely ridiculous (when you actually understand his comments). I don't recommend this dude at all.

The only I liked about this professor is that he made the final easy. He works whenever he wants & gives you little details about assignments so you have to talk about it in discussion posts. Slow & rude responses. He also changes the due dates of assignments & will set readings back a few days before he posted it so it looks like he did it sooner.

This was the worst online class I have ever taken. The professor changed the due date for every essay and returned our previous assignments the day before our next assignment was due, leaving very little time to correct any of the feedback we were given. He is very unclear, slow to respond and I don't feel like I gained anything from this class.

Grading is wack. Few mistakes is a whole letter grade down not pts off b/c grades on individ assgnments posted as a GPA not percentages. Comments are numbers referring to comments (some are more #s ref. to book pgs & some insults) Doesn't usually answer questions in discussion incl. those about mistakes in past essays. Not a tough grader, mean one

This is by far the worst online class I have ever taken. The professor is extremely unclear and his syllabus does not match the class at all. He constantly changes the due dates of assignments and is slow at grading them. The assignments are thrown together and seem to have no planning involved. Would not recommend this professor to anyone.

This professor is an absolute mess. he is terrible unclear online, his response time is late, and his assignment due dates and requirements are very unclear. He is awful giving instructions and should not be teaching an online class. H e practically made the class and syllabus three days after the semester started. avoid him and spread the word.

This guy is something else. He is not specific with the class discussions but when you don't participate he is quick to send out a rude message basically saying how much he expects from you. He will move the assignments dates so make sure to keep checking canvas for updated info. Overall I wouldn't take him, I feel like I learned nothing.

Online class was easy. 8 assignments (short papers) and 1 oral presentation (5 minute video on Youtube). The problem is that it seems as if teaching a college course is annoying to him. Slow feedback and even slower grading. He is a fair grader though and the work was not hard.

Had 1101 in fall. The workload was pretty easy and spaced out nicely. Several short papers and grammar quizzes, which are pretty easy once you get the idea of them. Fair grader.

This is without a doubt the worst online class I have ever taken. He posts work when HE feels like it. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. Still waiting for an assignment that he said would be posted 5 DAYS AGO. The work is super easy. But he will not post an assignment schedule. It is absolutely ridiculous. There is no other option at SF, so be prepared.
