Comment:
Workload is heavy and his grading is arbitrary and unfair. Topics are fun but this professor is hard to deal with. If you have a high GPA and want to keep it, don't take this class. Six papers, two tests, homework every class & does not count towards your grade.

Pseudoscience is one of the best COLL 150s you can take. He assigns 6 two-page, single-space papers, one due every week, so you can pick and choose when to write one if your schedule is too busy one week. His lectures are irreverent, sometimes crude, and always insightful. Watch Tim Minchin's Storm for the class in a nutshell.

Always tells fascinating anecdotes. Goes off-topic sometimes. I have no idea when his office hours are, because you can just walk in to his office whenever you want and he'll help you with homework problems.

Professor Hinders is fantastic. Class was so fun and really interesting to the point where I would always look forward to class. Honestly my favorite thing about this class is that it changed the way I look at a lot of things, albeit I became a lot more cynical. I really recommend taking a freshman seminar with him!

Professor Hinders is the best. He's a bit eccentric but for the most part he kept the material interesting (which wasn't hard, considering we talked about everything from UFOs to chiropractic). Really easy A but not a throwaway class, I learned some valuable stuff.

Professor Hinders is a very interesting professor! Pseudoscience is a great freshmen seminar and it's a really easy way to knock off the writing component. Hinders can be very quirky at times but he makes class fun and is extremely laid back.

Prof. Hinders is an awesome teacher. His class was by far my favorite class my freshman year. It was hard to understand initially what he wanted in the papers, but he gives you thorough notes and you have the opportunity to revise them. The in class discussions were a little random but that made it more fun!

Great professor, very clear about what he wants in the papers and reading is extremely manageable. Plus we got to watch random youtube videos and discuss a whole range of wacky stuff, from UFOs to the TSA. A must-take for any freshmen who manages to get into it.

GREAT CLASS!! This was the best freshman seminar ever. We got to sit around and discuss aliens, ESP, Bermuda Triangle, etc all class. You have two exams and 5 two-page papers, all very easy if you go to class, participate in the discussions, and at least skim the chapters. Professor Hinders is sooo funny and really nice!

Prof. Hinders rocks. He is weird, funny, smart, and tells *interesting* stories and anecdotes--basically, he's perfect to teach this seminar. It's science vs. pseudoscience. Topics range from ESP to UFOs to faith healing to the Bermuda Triangle. Not much work at all (5 short papers, final exam, quiz), and you watch a lot of cool youtube videos.

This is by far the best seminar at the college. Not only is it interesting, but the material is also very easy. While the rest of my hall was stressing out about their seminar, I was writing 2 page double spaced reports on UFO's...incredible. Hinders is the man. You should easily get an A, just do the papers and study the night before the exam.
