Comment:
Course content was dry & covers A LOT of info. It'll be a bit more challenging if you don't have DB background. He's quiet and introverted. He just reads off powerpoint slides. Classes were boring. The exams were OK, but many students did poorly (class average was 67%), so make sure you do well on the assignments, research paper & presentation.

This guy is not qualified to be a teacher. He has extreme difficulty communicating ideas. Lectures seem pointless as he endlessly drones on about something that should be taught hand-on. It's like the information he teaches is top secret and if you ask him to explain what he means, he just says you should know it by now. An awful teacher.

He should start taking teaching very seriously and teach SAP subjects effectively. Because CMU is one of the best university of SAP, so students expect much from SAP subjects.

Professor Hwang is one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. He would routinely sit down with students who did not understand an assignment and explain it to them. Tests are decently rigorous and assignment will take you multiple hours each week to complete. BIS300 is a building course the work starts easy and progresses increases.

This professor is a very easy professor. Anyone who does not do well in his class is just lazy or stupid. He gives many basic assignments that can add huge amounts of easy points to your grade, and his tests are incredibly straight forward. If you are lazy and/or have a learning disability, you may not get an A or B in his class.

He's a terrible professor. He's hard to understand and unless you have a ton of experience with this course prior to joining it, your grade will be poor. If you have experience, don't expect to learn anything new from him.

I hated the subject because I am an IT major and I know DB rather well. I did find that the tests were unfair felt like they were written by another professor. Answers in book often times didn't match those in tests. Dr. Hwang is an average teacher teaching a horrible subject, CMU's IT department should be teaching this class.

Comment:
Class lectures are straight from either powerpoint or the book, and the quizzes, while an effective form of attendance taking, are too simplistic that you really don't take anything from the in-class experience. This professor seems to have a difficult time with lectures, and it really makes one wonder why the class isn't online based.

VERY easy class. Do the study guide for each exam and you'll do fine. He gives an open book group quiz at the end of each class, which are very easy. If it weren't for the quizzes, you would NEVER need to go to class aside from exams to get an A.

Very Easy class. Anyone who gives this guy a sad face doesn't know what they are talking about. Just show up, take the open book quiz each class and use the study guide he gives and you will ace this class. Yes, it may be boring, but its easy.

Quite possibly the easiest class I have ever taken. Group quizzes, give me a break. The exams are easy. All you have to do is read the book and look at the powerpoint slides. This class is not challenging at all. Lecture is far less useful than the lab which is taught by a grad assistant. Basically, go to class and earn a grade. Good luck.

TOO easy the class is so easy you wont be able stomach going to class. As a result you will miss out on daily points and because of its ridiculous easiness you wont get a good grade. The tests are way harder than everything else you do in the class considering that everything else you do in the class is nothing. Avoid like the plague

Wow. This class is so pointless. Lectures are a joke. The only reason to go is there are frequent quizzes and assignments. Don't worry, open book group quizzes are easy.

Hwang is a joke. He more or less lets the students teach everything FOR him (which isn't much, don't worry). The class itslef is rediculously easy, but go everytime or you'll miss quizes. All tests and quizes are open discussion. In the end, he's a horrible yet incredibly easy professor.

Boring subject, but easy class. Go to the lectures! He gives 15 pt quizzes every lecture, sometimes two, but they're open book and you can talk with neighbors, easy easy points! take advantage of them, they'll definitely up your grade in the class!

Easiest class I have ever had. All quizzes are group quizzes, and all tests are posted on blackboard for you to study prior to the test. You have to work to NOT get an A in this class. His accent is a little tough to understand sometimes, but he uses powerpoint, so you can figure it out!! RECOMMEND!
