He was very passionate about the content we studied. He gave good feedback on essays, and was willing to help out and flexible with deadlines. I found him a little bit unprofessional. He made some comments that should not have been said in a classroom environment, and gave comments about your essays in front of the whole class.

The course and content were fine, he gives good feedback on your papers, but I did not enjoy him as a person. He was rude to students when they spoke up in case if they stated he stated something he did not believe, and when he returned our essays to us, he calls you up to the front of the room so the entire class can hear what he is saying to you

Heavy reading load with few assignments. Dr. Morris marks slowly and harshly. Interesting novels, but not worth the stress of such harsh grading standards. Only three options for the only essay, and they were all about the Beat Poets when we had read so many other texts. Final Exam 40%, Group presentation 30% and 1250 word paper was 30% of grade

From a perspective of someone in Engineering, Mark honestly made English the most enjoyable class for me. He was very passionate about teaching us, and this whole time you could tell there was someone there who actually wanted you to succeed. Don't take his classes if you don't know the difference between its and it's, enough said.

Mark is good. He's a nice guy, passionate about writing, and super helpful. He's an easy going prof and this is an easy-going class. I wouldn't say he's phenomenal, but I think he's definitely a decent prof, one where you could do well in his class with little effort, depending on your writing skills.

I don't care if you have to rearrange your entire schedule, try your best to get into his class. He was my absolute favourite teacher in my first year as you genuinely improve as a writer and a student in his class. So helpful, especially during office hours, and the books he chooses are interesting so I definitely recommend him!

Although I found him terrifying at first, Professor Morris was a great introduction into first year English. He does lecture quite a bit (most are skippable, but he's an interesting bloke so you'll probably want to attend!) and he knows an extensive amount about grammar and literature. I found the amount of homework given pretty standard.

Really enjoyed this prof. He makes your want to participate in his class, as he goes over more than just english, but talks about contemporary Indian society and social issues. He doesn't give as much feedback as I would like for an english teacher but his feedback was still to the point and accurate.

Good teacher but I do not recommend him for a first year course. You need to already be amazing in english to do good in his class

Dr. Morris is very willing to help you out during office hours if needed. His lectures can be a little boring sometimes as he rambles quite a bit, but he gives you lots of useful hints for assignments. There are two essays, a 500 word assignment and a group project, so there is quite a bit of homework.

Good prof. Reasonable grading system. Not too many assignments. Only one essay plus two for the final. We kept a blog and would have posts there but they were easy and it gave you some good practice. He recognizes the fact that students are busy and don't always have time for the crazy big English assignments. Makes you think though.

He is one of the best profs I have ever had! Extremely entertaining and engaging. He ensures class participation from everyone and provides critical feedback. The course material was interesting. I loved learning about India and I would appreciate taking more classes that teach me about other countries in the world if he taught it.

Prof. Morris is funny & GREAT at guiding & encouraging class discussions. He picked great texts and was a very fair marker- his essay topics are very specific but if you don't mind the constraints they're fine!

Minimal workload for this course, 400 word assignments due every few weeks, along with an essay at the end of the course before the final exam (2 essays). I hate English, and his lectures were actually interesting and helpful. Super funny guy, will always give you really good feedback. 2 novels and 2 films (which were all actually good!)

Mark Morris is a great professor. He is very experienced in writing and literature and he gives great feedback. He is not a tough marker and his assignments are clear. We had a blog portion in our class which I thought was pretty fun to do. He is a little pretentious but don't take it personally

Great guy, really helped me with my writing and actually cares to help you do better. The assignments are mostly blogs, and you only have to write one essay. The final was 2 essays in 2 hours which was pretty tough, but doable.

feedback is pages long and he's really thorough about it. Many people say he's a tough grader which I do agree too but if your confident in your writing abilities you'll be fine. My only issue is that the final is unnecessarily brutal. We were given two hours to write two essays when the other english classes had an essay and some short answer.

Most interesting English instructor I've had. Fairly easy class. Blog entries instead of multiple essays; easy literature. Lectures on techniques were helpful. An interesting course esp. if you're interested in India. Watch out for group projects. I've felt he was an easy grader too, not sure what's up with the sudden influx of negative reviews.

Dr. Morris was a really refreshing English prof. Had to take the class as one of two intro English classes, and it was a blast. No crummy Shakespeare novels or super long paper on a dull book. Had to write weekly blogs that he checked, but didn't mark down if they weren't completed until the end of the semester. Nice enough guy, would recommend!
