Swetnam would be very informative if she knew how to inform her students of her knowledge. Most students in my class last semester spent their time on their phones and/or computers. The information you learn is from your classmates during their presentations. I am not sure I gained any valuable information I can use in a classroom in the future.

Dr. Swetnam is old-fashioned, unorganized and always draws on her own experiences during class. She makes student by a packet with out-dated information. Overall do not suggest this class.

Very disappointed with this class. Dr. Swetnam did not focus on the lecture, wandering off topic, eg, talked about trip to Australia to study diversity of education, we heard about subway tokens but nothing else. She was grouchy when approached or questioned. She said she covered material when she didn't. Could've been great class butwasn't

Dr. Swetnam had some issues this semester and I'm not unsympathetic but I'm sad to say I learned next to nothing in this class. The material is dated and she got very testy when her opinions were challenged or even discussed. She obviously cares about the profession but I would recommend another professor for this class.

Good teacher and she really enjoys her job and cares about what she teaches. I took Intro Ed. with her and it was pretty easy but did require a lot of work, definitely go to class and take notes. Grade based on one test and a paper but as long as you put the time into the paper and take notes you will do well.

Comment:
She's very knowledgeable, but also very dry. I find it difficult to stay interested in class. She does not do a good job of explaining assignments, but at least she lets you rewrite what she considers incomplete. She is always grouchy and irritable, and her hair looks like the bat hairdo from Ace Ventura 2. I will avoid this teacher in the future.

Although she is very passionate, I didn't like how basically our entire grade was based on one test at the end of the semester. If you do bad on the test you won't get a high score in the class. If you don't do good on tests don't take this class.

Very, very passionate about what she teaches! I enjoyed her teaching and the class and learned quite a bit! You'll watch lots of interesting videos and participate in lots of discussion. Great for potential teachers--offers food for thought and information that will be useful in the classroom.

Intro to Education with Dr. Swetnam was a great class! I learned a ton, her lectures were clear, and she answers all your questions. She seems like she would be a great advisor as well.
