Comment:
Be ready to spend a whole week for this class. I have no idea why this class is only 3 credits. Professor Markus is nice, but his GSI is the worst. His advice is not helpful at all, and he grades on a few things. I have no idea what the grading standard is, and by the way he is really slow. You are not gonna see the grade until the end of class.

Very insightful, agree with everything said by the person below me. SAC333 was a very interesting class with many subtle motives that I thinks Marcus taught effectively. Overall Marcus is a good guy

I really like Marcus, I definitely understand the complaint that he is a little spacey, although I attribute it more to him thinking deeply about things, but he has a very calm presence about him. Genuinely one of the nicest professors I've had, he may have been different 5 years ago when the other ratings were posted, but he is great now.

I think Nornes is a fantastic teacher. I went into the semester thinking I would hate this class, but he made it one of my favorites what with his passionate and engaging teaching style. He interacts with and respects his students, and... he brought us candy on Halloween. A god among men.

Markus is incredibly passionate and educated in his field. Often students are discopuraged by his tangental nature but his coherence is overshadowed by his knowledge and excitement. By far one of the best. Highly recommend!

As noted by others, he can be rather scatter-brained, but all that aside, this is a passionate man with a lot of rich stories. He has sat on panels with some incredible directors and lived through some of cinema's most incredible eras. Don't hate the guy for being so knowledgable and so passionate about film.

Comment:
A little too much of an 'intellectual' for me. At first, his lectures were too abstract and confusing, but has gotten much better. Awesome films to watch. Readings are long and often difficult. Papers are somewhat difficult as well. Exams not bad: covers the material in lectures.

"Spacey" is the perfect word for this guy. Though a fairly unengaging speaker and intellect, his classes do show some interesting films. Get the syllabus, watch the films, forget the class.

Took this class the first semester he taught it. I found him to be scattered and unevenly prepared, but the otaku hecklers did make things tough for him. BROAD range of animation shown, lame readings, spacey professor, mediocre class.

Nornes had his facts down, had much to offer on the subject and controlled a room of 300+ people very well. He was (and is) much loved and appreciated by most of his students--Mr/Ms. hypersensitive on 9/11 is overreacting.

Useless as an advisor. Was very insenstive on 9/11, very aloof and spacey.
