Comment:
Professor Stage isn't the best professor. Lectures for AMS 330 are just her talking to you and asking for your opinion or response to certain things that happened in the book you are reading. Not a ton of work, just reading 3 books, 3 papers, and a presentation. Her teaching style and personality aren't for everyone.

Class required attendance, that is to say student attendance as the professor will not be there. There is very little work, a short presentation and two tests which if you try you will likely pass. The specific grades that you receive however are up in the air and don't seem related the time or effort.

When she did actually make it to class, we were treated to her feminist rants, which were hilarious and a little shocking. Unfortunately, she would not show up to class often with no warning to the students, and her exams leave much to be desired. Tough grader on very broad questions.

Her class was interesting. Shes an older women and has health issues in which cancels class quite often. However, she is very hilarious and quite sassy. Note you will do group presentations but just do your research. Overall, super easy class, interesting and informative topic.

Sarah Stage obviously knows what she's talking about, the problem is that she doesn't show up to class often enough to actually teach you anything. She couldn't stick to a schedule, gave little to no instructions for the three papers she assigned and grades ridiculously hard. I would not recommend and would never take her classes again.

I believe Sarah Stage was once an amazing professor, but that time has passed. She rarely shows up for class, gives minimal instructions, shows movies but expects you to read every page of the text books. She can't keep to a schedule and sometimes she's downright rude. If you email her, don't expect a reply back.

She is awesome. Has to cancel class because of health problems sometimes. She makes me laugh and knows so so so much about the subject. She keeps it interesting. I like this class.

Stage is interesting to listen to and really knows her topic. Easy tests if you study the material. Overall not a hard class, but the way she talks to students is awkward and uncomfortable.

Stage is very smart and very educated on womens studies. however shes getting old and is always frazzled like most old people. she disorganized and cancels class a lot but she is a hell of a good time, shes funny and keeps a topic that could quickly get bitter and hateful a light and enjoyable one to learn about.

Easy class, but boring and she is a horrible teacher. She hardly ever shows up and is very disorganized, takes forever to get grades back, does offer lots of extra credit. lectures consist of her ramblings and power point presentations done by class mates which is what she basis the final off of.

I'm a history major and I can't stand a disorganized course like this. Stage spends the class trying to shock us with her 60's stories of back-alley abortions and how many of her friends were blackmailed into sex by doctors for abortions, etc. etc. We got to read The Bell Jar, a wonderful book. Suck up to her as a feminist and you'll get an A

Easily the most incompetent teacher I have ever seen. She has zero understanding on how to teach a class. Perhaps she is better at others but not at this one. There is no form or structure to the class. Lectures are useless. There was actually a student who would come in late to class then proceed to sleep and snore. Nothing was ever said.

Awful. Boring, repetitive lectures, no structure, and she lets people talk while she lectures. Tests are pretty hard to, but at least she gives study guides. Don't take this class if you actually love history, it'll drive you crazy.

This is not the Sarah Stage at sarastage.com, sorry guys. However she is a good teacher and the materials were interesting. Instead of the Barbara Ehrenreich's "Nickel and Dimed" it should have been "Bait and Switched" If a test asks for the definition of "sexism", it is discrimination against women, not men (e.g. not male nurses).

Attendance is mandatory, take notes to prepare since the study guides do not have all info from the book. The study guides have almost the exact info that is on the test so you can just do those and skip reading if you do a good job searching the book. Only grades are the mid-term, final and a presentation.

Easy professor. Class was interesting before the mid term. After the mid term class had too much information. Test are easy and she gives you a study guide that is almost exactly what is on the exams.

100% reading of novels. After the first day she assigned 5 chapters to be read by the second class (2 days later). She expects 3 novels to be read through the semester. Needless to say I dropped the class. I didn't sign up for a book club. Only take her if you enjoy reading and/or book clubs.

prof. stage is smart, very knowledgeable in her subject, and willing to help her students with any questions. her class is all lecture, and everyone sits in a circle, so there's no screwing around because she can see you. however, she's really interesting and definitely one of my favorite professors.

An excellent professor. She makes class very interesting. Gives MANY opportunities for extra credit. Tests are based on information in the TEXTBOOK and notes taken in class. A study guide is given to prepare for the tests. Not necessary to read the chapters in entirety, but you will need to reference the book while studying for the test.
