Very funny guy, lots of music and older movie references, stuff was well covered. A little hard to grab onto sometimes, but if you put in a little work to understand you'll do just fine.

Philosophy in general can be a little confusing. Professor Perlman had good lectures and gives good notes. In order to pass his class you have to keep up with the readings, participate in class, and ask questions relating to what he is teaching. Perlman teaches theories not his own opinions.

Perlman is a decent prof but the only grades you receive in that class are for a midterm/final and attendance. No papers or quizzes. Which can be good or bad depending on how well you listen to the LONG lectures. He takes attendance 2x throughout the whole term when it looks like not a lot of people show up. Overall decent prof but hard subject

In the PHIL of Art class don't bother buying the books but instead look up the articles and save yourself some $$$. His lectures were the highlight of my week and he doesn't treat you like a child. If you are easily offended by sex or off the wall jokes he isn't the Professor for you. Get him talking about music and you can sit back and enjoy.

Pushes his views on his students. If you disagree he tries to humiliate you in front of class. Bashed Christianity to no end. And even brings it up when there is no reason to. If you choose to write about something he doesn't agree with he will give you a poor grade. Called me an idiot in front of the whole class for being Christian

Perlman is a really passionate professor who is great at testing exactly what he is taught. So long as you show up, take notes and study you will do fine. He really just wants to hear your opinions on the different theories. Papers and tests are easy so long as you study a little bit and read.

He's a fair teacher who simply wants his students to read the material and prove that they understand it. There are supposed to be pop quizzes based off of the reading but my class never had any. The reading is very dense and pretty heavy but he explains everything in class. So long as you go to class and take notes on lectures, you should pass.

Kind of intimidating at first, but it gets better. He only gives a midterm and a final and they are graded on a curve which helps. He's pretty good at explaining everything and his tests weren't terrible. Doesn't take attendance but I would recommend going because he explains things clearer than they are in the book.

The tests aren't that hard if you actually go to class and pay attention. He really likes it when you write a lot on the essay portion. Also the only work is the midterm and final, so no homework.

He doesn't like oppositions to his opinions. Class material was interesting. He required reading and although I purchased the books I never once used them. Midterm and Final are the only things graded and he is not a timely grader. Study guides outline essay questions but is not any help for the multiple choice half. Attendance sometimes recorded.

Two tests and a group paper. My group consisted of 6 people, 2 of whom never even showed up. This paper is worth a third of your grade. This paper was the worst assignment I've ever been given in my life. Perlman also makes his opinions very obvious and condemns beliefs not in alignment with his own. Possibly the worst class I've taken.

He is a wonderful person who teaches with humor and understandable examples. The only down falls are that there were only 3 grades in the grade book and that he is a slow grader. There's also the little detail of a 10 page paper. It's not easy but its not terrible. Ask for help, you won't be left in the dark. Lecture is entertaining

He can be hard to understand but his classes are fairly small so as long as you are there, you will get to know him and he you. Once he knows you, he works with you personally, fairly easy class. Lectures are kind of boring. No spark notes here, you need the book.

Avoid him at all costs! For a level 101 course, he makes the material way to difficult to comprehend. For the first time being introduced to philosophy, he has ruined it. He expects way to much to for us to understand, when in the first place the its already difficult to understand! Oh, and his finals...is pretty much a mind game for you to fail.

I thought Perlman was actually a pretty good teacher. Kind of lags on the grading, but if you read the material and can comprehend it, this is not a bad class. You have a whole class to ask questions too if something is too vague or abstract and he will explain it pretty thoroughly.

Teaches a good class overall. It's difficult to get a good idea of what your grade is going into the final since he is a slow test grader.
