Dr. Rathel is amazing. He may be a tough professor, but he is truly is great. Come to class prepared. Stay up to date with the syllabus provided, read the textbook per the schedule given, and you will be fine. All of his instructions are given, so just talk to him if you have any questions or concerns. He responds to emails and will talk to you.

Tough grader, but at the end of the day you feel that you truly earned your good grade. Willing to help and has solid feedback. Taken him many times, enjoyed every class.

Dr. Rathel is the toughest teacher I've had. Prepare to be challenged and schedule a good amount of time to devote to this class. You may dread the work, but its worth it and its why I've taken two of his classes so far. Also he has the most accurate syllabus which unfortunately has been a rare occurrence at BCF and vital for a distance learner.

He does not really care about the quality of education that you receive. His attention is not in the classroom. Grades are posted way after the fact and sometimes not even graded at all. I did an exegetical for him one time and he never even graded the thing. One of the worst professors on campus.

Although this is a time consuming class with the forum posts and reading material, it was my favorite class. Be prepared to devote a good amount time to the weekly assignments, and to learn a lot!

Dr. Rathel scares me, and at the same time I have so much respect for him. He's also really funny in my opinion. This class is ridiculously interesting, and not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. If you read your textbook and pay attention in class, you can get a good grade. Just don't make Dr. Rathel mad.

Wow, So this class is not that hard. I passed it easily without busting my brain apart. If students would get off of facebook and stop daydreaming, they would definetely learn in this class. Also, there is a big book called a Dictionary, look up those "big words" Or stop reading picture books.Plus, learn some respect people!Do you have a degree yet

Good guy outside of class. Don't get me wrong but in class he loves to use 10 million dollar words to show us how smart he is and teaches like he is in seminary. The problem with the big words is all it does is show us how stupid he is because we don't learn a thing because we can't understand the words. The class is completely and utterly useless.

Dr. Rathel's classes are not EASY, but they prepare you for seminary, which is why most students are at BCF. I've learned a lot from him, and he always helps by giving us hints for the tests. His classes may be challenging and there may be a lot of work, but THIS IS COLLEGE! If you want something easy, stop whining and go back to high school.

If you want an easy teacher, go somewhere else. If you want to put in some work and effort and learn, then Rathel is a great teacher. BCF has too many students looking to halfass their way through college and fast forward into the ministry, so they cry when they get a professor like Rathel. Get off of Facebook and pay attention and you can learn.
