Comment:

Dr. Schmlaz was a very nice and pleasant professor who was always glad to help both inside and outside of the classroom and I loved the fact that he would always offer a lot of extra credit, which made the course much more easygoing and better. Content-wise, I did learn a lot of things that I did not know before, and that makes his class worth it.

I love this guy. Really nice, clearly cares about his students, and very generous with extra credit. The class itself can be difficult if you don't keep up. Make sure to go to discussion and read the web notes. Didn't really need the textbook.

Professor Schmalz is a very interesting guy, he explains the concepts pretty clearly and gives out a tons of extra credits during homework and exam. Make sure to do these extra credits because they really saves your grade in case you don't do well on an exam or miss a quiz.

Dr. Schmalz was an amazing professor for this course. He presented the material very clearly and made sure you were ready for any exams or quizzes. The textbook was not necessary. He gave us dozens of extra credit points on every assignment and exam, would definitely recommend, best professor in computer science department.

Wonderful professor, incredibly clear and straightforward about everythingthe material, the purpose of the class, the application to the real world, the grading criteria, actually cares about the students LEARNING and not stressing over exams for no reason. 10/10 would take every class with him. Easy A, just pay attention.

Dont need to buy the book imo, he really knows what he is talking about, always interesting what he has to say. Go to the exam reviews, he basically tells you whats goin to be on the exam, TA's are pretty nice, try to get Mr.Chapman, he is really good at explaining everything. Class was super easy IMO, lots of EC, just a little work to get A easily

Very intelligent and great guy. Knows what he's talking about. Some tips - never leave an answer blank on the exam.. lots of partial credit. Lots of extra credit and ALWAYS go to the review sessions he has before an exam. He will outline exactly what is on the exam. Overall great professor, take his courses.

Nice guy. Boring material, but he does his best with it. Bountiful loads of extra credit. I put a 4 for easiness because some of the material can be hard, but he tells you almost everything that will be on the test and you get a full page cheat sheet and TONS of extra credit. Did I mention the extra credit?

Not a bad class at all. There are alot of concepts this class only touches on. Make sure to have a really good crib sheet for the test otherwise you wont pass it. Schmalz is weird. Go to TA's for help for the most part they are very helpful. Homeworks are confusing. Dont try understanding the book stick to the notes

Most concepts are interesting. The exams test what you have on your crib sheet and how fast you can copy it over. You will not have enough time to take tests. Schmalz was consistent in showing up late for class and coming up with a new excuse each day.
