This guy... He lectures heavy. He'll even go over the time you're suppose to get out of class. He sometimes get sidetrack and talk about useless stuff. If there was another professor that teaches CLAW, I would take them rather than this guy. Never again.

Professor has tendencies to ramble and get off topic when lecturing. His lecture style is based off of the book's powerpoints. He is a nice person if you need to talk to him after class. Class consisted of tests and "quizzes" which just counted if you were present. Overall, not the worst class, however I see the frustrations people may have with it

I suggest not taking this professor. Nice guy but doesn't know how to educate in this subject. Mainly gets off topic and barely talks about what's on the test. Be ready to teach yourself and read the book because he sure doesn't help you prepare for his 100 question tests.

NEVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Rude man w/ little respect for his students. If you do not ask questions he throws a tantrum and sends everyone home for "not doing anything". He is horrible at explaining things. His grading is unclear on attendance b/c even though it's "not required" he gives "pop-quizzes" that consist of if seeing if you're there.

This guy will tell you that attendance is not mandatory but he gives pop quizzes throughout the semester. These pop quizzes are usually him taking random attendance, so yes, attendance is mandatory, and no, he will not bump you grade to a + even if you have 448 points and the A- is 449 points. Easily the worst professor I've experienced in the COB

Where do I start with mark e smith. this man is truly the most horrible professor at the university of Louisville. he goes off topic way too much, he cancels class way too much (have him for law and accounting and he has cancelled 6 classes in the past week), doesn't help you with homework, doesn't explain the content well. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS

If you took him for accounting and didn't enjoy him.. Try him for CLAW! I think he just didn't like teaching acct but he is knowledgeable and more excited about CLAW. Yes there were still stories and tangents. You have to read. He lets you bring multiple index cards to exams and offers extra credit for presentations or participation.

Mark Smith goes on tangents for most of the class and does not focus on the material. Tutoring may be necessary. The only grades are tests, attendance, and occasional homework. Go to class to get participation points. Honestly does not teach much.

Taken for CLAW 301. His tests do not adequately resemble material covered in class. Tests are not returned for review. A Expect no leniency in assignment dates or attendance, even due to extenuating circumstances. Does not adequately answer student questions, and is prone to materially unrelated tangents. If possible, I'd recommend testing out.

Talks the whole lecture about things that will not be more than 2 questions on the test. Will cut off student questions and answer in a way that doesn't answer the initial question. Does not offer extra credit. Homework is online and even if the schedule gets pushed back due to weather the dates of homework do not move.

Attendance taken everyday, but classes are not helpful at all. Only way to pass the tests is to read the chapters. You get a notecard per chapter for every test.

Pros: he's funny, lets you use three notecards on tests, and gives you a long time to do the homework (all chapter homework is due the day of the test). Cons: A lot of work, a lot of studying, talks about things in class you may have not studied then doesn't go over it and expects you to know for the test. Tests are hard. Avoid if possible.

Class is not as bad as some make it out to be. He is funny and has interesting stories. The tests are pretty tough, but read the textbook and pay attention to the cases and topics he mentions in class and you should do well. There are also extra-credit opportunities for class participation and attendance.

Mark Smith has the magical super power of not teaching. This class is 10% accounting and 90% story time with mark smith. But don't worry, if the average class test score is 66, he probably won't curve. OH, and he(his wife) writes all of the homework problems on sticky notes.

this guy gets of subject too much. I didn't feel like I was in a good learning environment. Was confused and afraid to ask questions because of how sarcastic he was to other students.

A great guy but not the best professor. Often gets off topic with stories that do not relate to topic. Tests were difficult, book was online and hard to navigate.

Professor is a nice guy, but most of the stories he tells are irrelevant. Exams questions are almost all hypotheticals so you have to have a clear understanding of the concepts. Requires a fair amount of reading.

Nice man, means well, but fails to prep you for what you will be tested on. His stories are interesting, your grade however, is not based on your ability to remember his opinions and experiences. Advice: read the text book, focus on terminology and ideas. Be able to identify the concepts/laws in hypothetical cases.
