as a visting student back in 2003/2003 I found both of the courses I took with Professor Stoler to be very rewarding. Great style in presentation and you could tell he had a love for the subject matter, just wish I could have taken more classes, but Sussex wanted me back!

The best professor that I have ever had the opportunity to study under. He's brilliant. Always willing to help. This class is not an easy A. I worked my butt off and it paid off. Very hard, tough grader and expects you to do the reading. Take lots of notes and he rarely uses the board. An occasional map. A brilliant professor of history. Take Him.

Holy lord is this man tough. Do not take a class with him unless you are absolutely willing to work work work. However -- it COMPLETELY pays off: this man inspires you to do your absolute best and his lectures are nothing short of incredible.

When a Professor has a passion for their work and gets excited, you know you're in the right class. I was very excited to take this class. Most of all, I had a great time. It's no cakewalk. You need to do the reading and you should come to class. I missed one class and man, did I fall behind. Take Stoler, he's the man.

Stoler is T-O-U-G-H but if you like a challenge you cannot miss a chance to take his class. He's very excited about what he is teaching (and how many people can you say that about) and tries to make it fun for the class. Yes, he's reading and paper assignments can be VERY difficult and demanding, but come on, we're in college after all.

Stoler made my life a living hell. Although I did all of the work on time and asked for help, it came down to an all-nighter before the final and a D- in the class: this should not happen in an intro. class! Arrogant, loves to talk...stay away unless you LOVE history.

Stoler is the bomb! Have you noticed when he gets really excited he stutters a bit? It's nice to see a professor so psyched to talk about things he can't get the words out fast enough.
