Comment:

Never take a math class at night! I couldn't focus at night class and ends up withdrawing from this class. Explains things too fast without caring if we absorb it. Grades based on four tests, final, HW grade in the test. But the things I don't like the most is that he doesn't put things ahead. Use a very old version of textbook

Comment:

It's difficult to ask questions during the lecture and they aren't very interactive because of the speed of the lecture and amount of info covered. Mark is a helpful and kind person especially outside of class when he has time. However I feel his method of teaching was not right for me. The homework incentive is low and all are due on test days.

Comment:

Mark Walker teaches with a negative attitude, talks down to students who answer questions incorrectly in class or ask questions, and will often mess up his own problems while blocking the board. He seems unable to pace his lectures properly. I recommend my friends to stay away. He hardly seems like he wants to be there and it reflects on the class.

He gives lots of homework, but if you do it, he adds extra points to your test. He goes over the math problems that are going to be on the exam, and most of them are similar. He post lectures online, including study guides. I recommend buying the teacher's edition textbook, including the solutions book from Chegg Study. I reccomend this professor.

Great guy, but homework is barely worth anything and the tests are very confusing. Packs a lot into one class. Some students are intimidated to ask questions, and this guy just keeps going. He does try his best as a teacher though! He's a great guy, but if Math isn't your best subject, just trust me and take him if you want to have a stepping stone

Great notes every class. Also posts the notes online. Kind, caring, and very helpful. All homework is extra credit, collected on test day & added to test score as extra points. Great at explaining the material. Very understanding. Gives about 1 hour & 20 minutes for tests. Tests usually about 20 problems. You will learn lots in this class.

I do like math so this class was not hard for me, but having a great teacher like professor Walker was fantastic. I hope I can take one of his classes again because he explains math well and he wants his students to understand it. Whenever I got my exams back I could easily understand what I did wrong, and I really appreciated that.

Lots and lots of homework, but it all benefits you. If you do not practice math you will have a hard time grasping the new material, he was very good at explaining the new concepts, and I enjoyed the class it was 6wks during the summer2016 for Math60, So super intensive but doable if you put that effort in, great teacher!

He is very monotone like everyone says. The first day of class i wanted to walk out because it was so boring. It only became sort of interesting because i made friends in the class to talk to during breaks. He is a very tough grader on tests but does offer extra credit but its not easy to obtain. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES! :(

I hate math and Professor Walker made math so much less scary. You have 4 tests and a final. If you pay attention in class, and do the homework you're golden. The test questions are super similar, if not the same as the homework. If you do all of your homework, you get 5 extra credit points on the test. TAKE HIM!

Professor Walker makes learning math easy - if you attend class and do the homework. He cares about his students and is very approachable if you need help. I've always hated math but he has inspired me to push forward with more advanced classes. Very fair grader - you get credit for what you know even if you make a simple mistake.

Comment:

Calculus is a very tough course. But Prof. Walker taught me more about algebra in a semester than I learned in any other algebra-specific class. Seeing the examples worked out and having access to all of the notes (you might have missed - WRITE THINGS DOWN!) online is very nice. It starts off very hard but stick with it. He's good.

Although he speaks in a monotone voice, he is very clear to understand. He also assigns a lot homework and doesn't collect it until exam day. The homework is for 5 extra credit points on exams. There are 4 exams plus the final. If you miss class he posts the notes on Blackboard every class day, which are super helpful. Overall great teacher!

He's super monotone. Whenever someone would ask a question, he would just restate what he said without going in depth at all or making it clearer. Get ready for hours of homework. It's extra credit but only a couple of points towards tests. About 4 hours of homework assigned every class. No matter how hard I studied, I still got my first C...

To be honest he's really boring and the lectures are really long but his teaching methods are good. Homework isn't mandatory but if you do it, it's extra credit on the test. The class overall is hard but he's extremely helpful if you ask questions. He doesn't use mymathlab, which was a plus to me because I hate mymathlab.

Professor Walker, is the not most exciting teacher when it comes to lectures. But as boring as he can be his lectures are clear and clean that It is hard to get lost. He is very neat and is willing to help when lost to clear up anything that was misunderstood. Takes role everyday.

really confusing long boring lectures. never ends class early. homework questions on beginning of class, then 15min super rushed lecture, makes you do book exercises for 45 min in class, then gives a 15min break, then teaches the last section, nightmare. tests are long, hard, usually students can't finish in time. forget ab life if you do the hw

While he is a nice guy, each class gets more confusing and the tests are complete nightmares. Expect to go to tutoring 15+ hours a week and still barely pass. Homework is for 5 points extra credit on tests, but will take around 25+ hours to complete. Would recommend taking a different teacher.

He is an ok teacher. My biggest problem was his very monotone voice. It makes the lectures seem like they are so much longer than they really are. He has no problem helping you with anything you need, and he doesn't make you feel stupid if you don't understand something.

Professor Walker is a good math teacher. He goes over the homework in every class period and let's you ask questions all the time. However he teaches really fast and sometimes you will get lost in what he is talking about.
