Took her for an online Religions class. The workload was a lot considering its a gen ed class and also taking into consideration your main major classes. This class was just as much if not more work than my major classes. She expects you to go out to one of the churches and interview their leaders. Literally makes you work for that good grade!

Her powerpoints are accessible online which makes understanding the material and studying easier. However, she tends to rush through material in class and not explain very well. Her tests are sort of difficult because she puts so many true/false questions that can greatly affect your grade. Presentations are graded harshly. Textbook is important.

Class everybody should take. loved Dr. Ashton so much and would recommend the course to anyone. No tests, just a lot of reading and writing (its a writing intensive class ... duh) nicest and most helpful woman ever. Most fun class I ever took. 4 assignments all year: book report, presentation, final research, presentation and weekly readingspapers

Prof. Ashton is a great instructor, knowledgeable about the subject matter. Textbook use and her power points are key for doing well on tests (3). Homework is written outline/view of chapter. Religion service attendance & Penn Museum visit with oral reports, exams and homework are required to do well. Manageable workload for freshman or seniors

I really liked Dr. Ashton. I had her for senior seminar in AMerican studies. There is a ton of reading and writing and you have to give two speeches. She expects everyone to speak in class but you get pretty comfortable with everyone by the second week. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well.

I really like Dr. Ashton because she's direct and to the point. She doesn't baby you, but she is there to help. The class is mostly discussion and you have to do a 2 pg reaction each week. There is a book review and a 15pg final paper but hey, this IS a senior seminar class. I would take her again.

I took her for Senior Seminar in American Studies, and I really enjoyed her class. There was a lot of work, but she will help you. For the final paper and presentation she will basically walk you through every step of it. She wants you to do good and not fail. The subject area is holidays, and I learned a lot of stuff i never knew before.

Take-home midterm, T/F final, and a religious service report and presentation. Those were the only grades. Any easier gen. ed. class. Attendence IS important! I got a B when I should have gotten a solid B+ or possible A-. So take this class and go to class!

Dr. Ashton is a good professor so long as you don't make any waves. She is very opinionated and unreasonable. We did multiple assignments, all listed on the syllabus, many of which she didn't count. If you have an open mind or, *gasp*, are an atheist, stay clear of this one. Her grading is arbitrary
