Comment:
I put a huge amount of work into his class (twice what a normal class would take) and aced it. I found that reading the recommended textbook sections before class was very important/helpful. I believe PHYS1000 is simply not an easy course, but he taught it well. He greatly helped me get major scholarships since I worked so hard in his class.

Mark is an excellent professor and was very engaging in class aside from some dry topics in phys 1000. He strives to see students succeed and will give you many examples and push for you to succeed. He is a picky marker, and he writes difficult tests, but you'll get a lot just for knowing the content. I don't know why people dislike Mark.

I was a physics virgin before this course, taking it for a science GLER. I found it extremely interesting. Mark does a good job of explaining things in class. Clicker questions are "worded poorly" if youre trying to be a smart a**. Tests are average difficulty. Get a friend to work on assignments and clicker Q's (30% of course) you'll do fine :)

Not a bad prof. The clicker questions were worded poorly quite a bit of the time, but I his lectures were fairly straight forward. Tests were fair (no tricks) but I always got a lower mark than expected. Altogether it was a good science course for a non-physics major.

Comment:
Lectures are painfully boring and unclear. Clicker questions are very unfair. When asked a question, he will talk for five minutes without actually answering it. Doesn't respond well to challenges, asserts his position as always right. Assignments and tests don't reflect the the knowledge learned, they're meant to trick you.

Comment:
This is a good science option for non-science people. However, beware the course description which says "no math required." In fact, a GOOD high school math knowledge will be required. Daily i-Clicker quizzes every class. Unclear lecture style and doesn't respond well to probing questions or challenges. This class had potential, but fell short

Marks teaching skill resemble that of a 1st Year prof. He fumbles though his material and when asked a question he must stop and think about an answer for 30 seconds, only to answer the question with another question. I would not recommend taking a lower level class with him.

Walton is a decent prof. One aspect of his class that is awesome are his assignments, which are worth 40%. Gives pop quizzes every week, and doesn't always have the most clear lectures. Still, should be easy to get at least a B in this class.

A really disappointing class in a topic that should have been easy to make interesting. The prof seemed like he wasn't prepared and fumbled through the lectures. I found that I could do better by staying away from lecture and teaching myself using an alternative text book.

TERRIBLE! He assigns Wiley hand in questions to be handed in at the beginning of class. He then proceeds to teach, poorly, what you were asked on the assignment. That is ridiculus! It is not like phy. is an easy class that you can figure out the questions without any instruction on it!! TRY TO AVOID HIS CLASS!!!!

He has small man's syndrome! Careful!! He has been known to blow off the handle on students when he is in the wrong! He treats students like they are below him. When questioned he is more like a dictator and his answer, even if wrong, will be the last word. His teaching style is terrible, teaches the assignment after you hand it in!!! DO NOT TAKE!

Extremely hard since exams are brutal and very difficult to prepare for. Kick ass in the lab to try and keep your GPA afloat and go to the marker's for help for every assignment if you want to pass. Be careful when using the online marking multiple choice tests!
