Comment:
All lectures for Global Perspectives, generally super boring. Assigns homework weekly or bi-weekly but each assignment takes hours to complete. Attendance is very mandatory even though you get basically nothing out of every class. However he is generally somewhat helpful if you attend office hours.

Dr. Vink knows what he is talking about and clearly enjoys what he is teaching. However, it's as if he thinks we are only taking his class. I've never read more for one class in my life. Nice guy, but I'm avoiding future classes. Too much work!

This class was way too heavy for a CCC and for being a 100 level course. Tests are absolutely terrible. He expects way too much from you, especially since it's a CCC. Nice guy, but seems as if he believes it's the only class you're in. Way too much for a 100 level.

DO NOT take this class for a CCC. Went to him for help and he told me it was "against his grading policy" to give me feedback about my midterm. Emails were sent and its been 3 weeks since he has responded and I have gotten no information about why my final grade for the course was an F.

HE does a great job of communicating what he wants you to learn in his lectures. He does require you to read more than most professors but he gives out good grades as along as you do the work.

Dr. Vink is an extremely intelligent man and is very passionate about his work. For a 100 level class, the work load is very heavy, 4 Map assignments, 3 epics to read with GRADED reading notes, 2 essays and a midterm and final. His tests are all in essay form. If history is not your major, do not take this class for your CCC.

Dr. Vink by far is one of the most interesting professors that i have had at Fredonia. His lectures are fairly long, But interesting! I never thought that a gen Ed class would be this difficult.. AVOID this class at all costs!! He is a hard grader and the tests are beyond difficult for a history 101 class. He expects wayy too much from you.

I'm going to level with you - Dr. Vink is here to make you learn. The class will probably be at 8AM, his tests are difficult, and taking notes/attendance are a must. But if you show up, engage him, and do YOUR part he'll follow through. Expect a challenge, but expect to also learn.

The class is too much for a history 101. 3 papers, map assignments, midterm, and a final. Midterm and final. All essay form. If history is not your major do not take his class!

Dr Vink is a good guy, you can tell he's very intelligent. But he definitely should not be teaching a 100 level course. He expects more out of his students than he realistically should, making his course very stressful and frustrating. He cracks a pretty solid joke every now and then though, if you listen carefully.

Vink is an extremely intelligent guy and a scholar at that. There is a fair amount of reading, and a substantial textbook that is never used (don't buy it). there are three small easy-read epics that need to be read. 3 papers, and midterm/finals that are tough. A lot of notes, but he ensures you are well informed for exams and very helpful!!

Whatever you do, do not take this class! Whoever is reviewing this teacher is lying. The man assigns at least 3-4hrs of homework every class, and you take PILES of notes that seem useless in retrospect. Very smart, but very unclear and very rude to student. Withdraw or drop the course if you can, or take it with another teacher. Horrible class

Horrible class. WAY too hard and extensive for a ccc. He goes back and forth throughout the notes a ridiculous amount while lecturing and is almost impossible to follow. I have no idea why this class is a 100 level... He also happens to be rude could probably care less about how his students are keeping up with course material. DO NOT TAKE CLASS

tough grader. generally nice guy and he is helpful. but you'll have to do amount of assignments and study test terms. it is not good for beginners of history. his lecture was very informative and he is genius, however remember if you take this class you will regret to take this course when you study the exams or do lots of things.

The man is a genius! Having said that, this was an incredibly hard intro class ... multiple books. Multiple map and writing assignments. I think he gets so lost in the details that he forgets the big picture. Personally, I would prefer that the history we learned had lead us to better understand what is going on today. Glad it's over.
