I love this teacher, she's so sweet and her class made me want to switch to communications. The class is not too hard, but not too easy. Prepare to type a paper every week. Lots of quizzes for points and in her class points are points are points.

Quizzes every week but you can take the an unlimited amount of times. You need to read the chapters from the textbook if you want to do good on them. Seven papers along with discussions throughout the semester. Exams aren't bad because the questions come straight from the quizzes. Overall, its not a hard class but it's a lot of work.

I did not like this professor at all. She never taught the class and she barely came to class sometimes. She and two other professors taught the class, but it was mainly one professor that taught it; it wasn't her. She never put in our grades in time. She takes a while to reply back to emails. I would never take her again. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!

LOTS AND LOTS of reading, quizzes (which are online), and extra credit. There are 3 tests and you can retake all of them once and 1 other one a second time. Lots of extra credit opportunities! TA does all the teaching. Should do the reading, it will make the class easier!

BOOK IS A MUST. I took her class when she was combined with two other teachers so I did not see her much, especially cause the TA did everything. have to write at least 6, 3 page papers. Most people try to get all of there credit and do all nine. The final is just a chance to redo an exam

So many ridiculous rules for the class and she rely on an outdated computer system to enforce them that she herself doesn't know how to use. Missing scores on online tests that I had taken led to me not being able to take in person exams.

Fantastic class! Lots of short papers, but they are all easy to talk about if you've been in class and keeping up. Didn't use the book much, but the professor was great!

This class had online quizzes and in class discussions. She is a vary sweet lady, intimidating at first but overall great, very helpful and enthusiastic about the class. Give only one speech that is just to her, your TA and pod (about 10 people). A lot of extra credit opportunities, however some do require a lot of work...

I had heard this class was a killer, but Marla was great! Small weekly assignments and a lot of reading. Good discussions in class. Great overall experience!

This was an excellent class with an excellent professor. She is extremely knowledgeable about Communication Studies and works really hard to help all her students. The class was discussion-based, as long as everyone did the reading we did a lot of the talking while she guided us along.

I actually enjoyed this class. She assigned heavy reading and small writing assignments every week. She gives a thorough study guide for each exam. Don't miss class, and take notes. The material is valuable. An A is achievable if you do the work, study hard for exams, and go to class. This is not a class for slackers.

A real nightmare. Assignments are unclear and difficult. The subject is also terrible, at least in the way that she teaches it. She compared Rush Limbaugh to Hitler and Holocaust deniers...that is a little exaggerated and extreme! She also cried during class on one occasion. I dropped the class and changed minors, and I would advise avoiding her.

Eh..She was o.k. We never really dealt with her because we had a TA the whole semester. She was really nice, but after one of my speeches she told me how good mine was in front of the whole class, but then gave me a 78 on it???

The Prof herself is clear and helpful; very easy to approach and will always hear you out. The majority of the class is taught by a TA though, and mine was awful. Keep up with the reading and do all the Quizes (they're the same as the test)

Class is a lot of tedious work, which is the only reason it's difficult. Easy subject, attendance mandatory. Worked with a TA all semester, but Marla is very easy to talk to and is open to help students all the time. I would highly recommend taking her class.

This class sounded like it would be fun and interesting, but she made it harder than it had to be. The test questions completely throw you off and are poorly worded. Expect to do a lot of essay questions and questions on every chapter in the book including the epilogue! I would suggest trying to find a different class or teacher and avoid this one.

Just worked with the TA's all semester long. You basically learn on your own in this class. At the begining of the class it was said that this is a self paced class. IT IS NOT, chapters and materials due every week. To much work for a 3 credit class. I spent at least 75% of my time on this class. Not worth it.

She was very nice- she calmed all of our nerves before the speech. There is only one speech, in front of her, your TA and your pod (5 other kids for me). After the first week you only have to go for the speeches, pod discussions, to hand in assigments and take tests. There are no lectures. It's so easy. Get ahead as much as you can though.
