Comment:
Marla is on the edge of retirement and she could care less about teaching. The highlight of the semester was the only 2 highlights of her life. She used data to save money when buying her house and she once made a recommendation to a company to install air conditioning so their plastic molded parts would be in spec. stay awake for those & you pass.

I believe Prof. Scafe is in the stages of retirement and does not have time to manage this class. I often found answers to Quizzes and Tests to be incorrect and emailing the professor about these mistakes. She would correct them and give me credit. She just seemed very disconnected the entire course, like she was unaware of what was going on.

It's a pretty straight forward online course. 9 graded homework assignments (only 7 count), 3 mini tests (only 2 count), and final (worth 35%). No DQ's! Do the homework and the tests and you will do fine. She is approachable and accommodating, so if you have any questions, ASK!

I was super nervous about taking this class, but Dr. Scafe did a great job breaking it down. Her tests are based on her Powerpoints. They are challenging but manageable if you pay attention and do the homework. I felt like she genuinely cared about my success! Best prof so far at Walsh.

The lectures are very boring Examples are as good as another dose of boredom Assignments are not that difficult but you would not know what professor expects you to write to score A or A plus Tests are individual and group Group project at the end of the class Exams are hard and multiple choice questions Powerpoint slides are not structured,

Dr. Scafe is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Her PowerPoints are the worst I have ever seen from any professor or even student. Her teaching style is fly through as much material as possible while having no interaction from the class. Her hand writing is so bad you cannot read what she is writing when she does write on the board.

Marla is a very nice person, but she is not that great of a professor. I say this because her powerpoints are not clear at all, and her tests are extremely difficult. I previously had a 4.0 GPA prior to taking this class. When emailing her, her responses are very vague and lack clarification. I would not suggest this professor to others.

As a person who hadn't had math since HS, I was so afraid of this course. But I worked hard, used tutoring, asked questions, and did well. Dr. Scafe is an excellent lecturer (sadly her PPs are hard to read), and she structures the course to help you succeed. She's also kind and patient. Don't miss test days; use the group tests to help your grade!

I never cracked the book. Not needed ... just run hard copies of the slides and take notes. The project at the end does require quite a bit of work so when selecting a subject try not to over-achieve. Not terribly difficult provided that you study the material and attend the lectures.

Study the slides in and out and you will do fine on the mini-tests. The homework is worthless in terms of helping your grade. She's friendly, but her class is incredibly dry and lacked practical (business) application.

Dr. Scafe was hands down the BEST instructor I have had throughout my undergrad and graduate studies. She is a teacher in the truest sense and every detail of the class is geared towards helping her students succeed. I dreaded taking this class, but left it with an enormous appreciation for statistical analysis.

Tests are based on the lecture slides so not much textbook reading is necessary. Recommend partnering up for the final paper, but you have the option to do it individually. Her lectures really make the material easy to understand and she gives great examples of real life application.

Great prof! She loves the subject, makes jokes, and follows the syllabus exactly. Make sure you go to class - all you have to do is pay attention and take notes - even though she gives you powerpoint slides, it will help. 5 mini-tests, 4 computer assignments, and 1 research paper. She's very helpful and will spend time with you if needed.

Going into 301, I knew it would be a tough class so I decided to get a personal tutor through Walsh for help outside of class. Even with the help of a tutor and studying on my own, I barely passed. Mrs. Scafe is a great teacher and truly wants students to learn but her teaching methods don't get across to everyone. Tutoring is definitely needed.

I personally enjoyed this class, and appreciated that it was based on theory instead of rote memorization of statistical formulas. There were 5 tests that were solely based on her lectures, so show up to class and take good notes. There are 3 computer assignments that weren't that difficult. One term paper / stats project.

Good professor overall, you can tell she really wants you to learn. Study entirely from the powerpoints for her exams and you will do fine. There are 5 exams that you take once individually then once as a group, which really helps boost your grade. Take this class on campus though; online would be difficult.
