Comment:
I was really interested in Fascism and Nazism, so I really liked the class and the prof. is into her subject. The lectures were great and most discussions flowed. Reading was not too heavy. She needs to give more feedback on papers.

She's a really good professor. At first, i didn't like her, but she's incredibly knowledgeable and a really interesting lecturer. There's a good amount of work in her classes, but nothing unreasonable. I'd definitely take one of her classes again.

One of the worst professors I had at Occidental. I was assigned to her for my senior thesis. She took no interest in the subject I was presenting and would not be at office hours when I needed her. I requested to be changed to another professor and the faculty refused.

Tons of reading. The lectures were always confusing. She knew the subject well, but she didn't deliver the material well to the students. She grades the papers harshly. Don't recommend anyone to take her class.

Brilliant historian and very good teacher. Stone knows the subjects she teaches forwards and backwards, and makes sure her class meets the goals she sets for it. Also, in the writing assignments, she gives great feedback. Lectures can run a bit long but the discussion is well led. You get out what you put in.

Fantastic class. Looking at the Holocaust in depth and how it appears in film and museums was eye-opening. Lots of discussion, some lecture, and not too much reading. Stone was helpful on papers.

She goes on tangents like its her job. The class we were taking was an Economics/History class... her notes were horrible, and could not be followed. She grades papers on grammar (didnt realize I was in elementary school) and not content.

Professor Stone is certainly smart, but she has this terrible outlook concerning undergraduate students. She thinks you know nothing, and that you can not possibly contribute any new diologue to the conversation. I would suggest finding a different professor, perhaps one who actually cares about his/her students.

I had Professor Stone for Core. She is definitely smart, but I find her personality a bit cold unless you take the time to know her (not to imply that she isn't a nice person). I found it hard to really get into her lectures. She's a fair grader (as fair as the humanities can be) so work hard and speak up!

Yes, it's easy to complain about Prof. Stone, but really she's just a very odd person and I don't think she means to be rude or difficult all the time. She's smart and experienced and has a lot to offer if you let her. Be extra polite, conscientious, and make an effort to get on her good side, and you'll be fine.

This class has been really mind opening, and genocide is a very interesting and important subject. She is a pretty good teacher, and has organized lectures and interesting videos. She is a little flakey, but this did not bother me too much.
