She gives out many assignments to improve your writing. Must read all the essays assigned, most of the assignments are based on them. Great professor, very understanding for assignments or anything that can interfere with the class. Creates a great environment during class, participation counts !

She does not show an example of a well-written essay. She is caring outside of class and the readings are not that long. No quizzes or tests though but are replaced with in-class essays. The only homework she will grade are the out of class essays. She also asks a lot of deep meaning questions too.

Prof. Benson is great and helpful, and her lecture plans are quite diverse. The essays were not very challenging, and the exams were not too hard as well. Just come to class, participate, and make an effort.

American Literature class. cool books. good teaching style, puts her point across very well. Very understanding and helpful. Have to read, come to class, do reader responses well, and do a couple of papers. Personally, she's awesome.

She is very helpful. I'm an aspiring writer and she works closely with me, making sure that I achieve goals that I set for myself. She allows rewrites of paper that she assigns so As and Bs are fairly easy to get. She likes group discussions which tend to get really boring, but other than that she's good. I love her creative writing exercises.

Professor Benson is a magnificent English instructor. Although her assignments seem to be rather difficult she tells you what she expects, which makes them easy to accomplish. Her magnificent teaching skills, great personality, and marvelous ability to articulate the class readings with the assigments make this class DESIRABLE TO TAKE.

This is for representations of race. This professor is really good. All you have to do is keep up with the readings and participate in class discussions. She loves that. There are only two papers and the midterm and final are basically everything she discusses in class. She does take attendance and you NEED to show up in order to get a good grade.

Minorities in Literature, I think they've change the name of the course. She's very passionate about literature. Participation is a MUST so you HAVE to attend class. Lots of reading. More reading and analyzing then writing. Writing assignments very rigid.

Excellent Professor... Very helpful and clear in assignments- took this class in the summer- just go to class and participate and you will do well- paper topics were pretty easy and she practically tells you what to write in class discussions!!
