Before I took her class, I wanted to be a creative writing major, but she (in combination with the pretentious students she encouraged) killed my interest in having anything else to do with the department. She was just that bad.

if you're a first year and not particularly interested in creative writing, get someone else. She's nice but unaccessible (usually on leave every other semester) and doesn't check her emails often. She's also unintentionally intimidating.

I love Martha. She's extremely helpful, funny, and seriously interested in her students. She's always pushed me to work harder, and my writing has improved because of it. I highly recommend her.

Here's the deal with Martha: I've found her to be a wonderful teacher who consistently pushes me to be a better and better writer. She is honest which is terribly important (at least for me) in creative writing classes. I guess some people have problem
